List Of Sri Lankan Films Of The 2020s
This is a list of films produced in Sri Lanka in the 2020s. 2020 Cinemas in Sri Lanka have been closed since the third week of March due to the corona epidemic. Then, cinema halls follows audiences using hygienic strategies. Cinema halls were reopened on 27 June 2020. Movie theaters were officially closed for 183 days due to the Corona epidemic. However in early October 2020, all the cinema halls were closed due to second COVID-19 wave emerged with Minuwangoda and Divulapitiya cluster. 2021 Under strict guidelines, cinema halls were reopened from 1 January 2021. However, from 2 May onwards, film halls were closed again until further notice due to third COVID-19 wave. Rex Joseph Kodippili (born 6 October 1938: Sinhala:රෙක්ස් කොඩිප්පිලි) is a Sri Lankan film actor and film director. Primarily acted as a villain for the most of his career, Kodippili appeared in more than 130 films and produced two films. Nalaka Vithanage is a filmmaker of Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. He is the son of popular dramatist Bandula Vithanage. Personal life Nalaka was born on 16 February. He was educated at Nalanda College Colombo and has been keenly interested and involved with his passion for stage and teledrama creations and film making while at school. He completed his higher studies in commerce and business studies. In 2001 he went New Zealand for further studies. He returned Sri Lanka in 2004. His father Bandula Vithanage was a renowned dramatist in Sri Lanka who had a career that spanned for more than five decades. ''Ethalaya'' is a 2020 Sri Lankan Sinhala action film directed by Nalaka Vithanage and co-produced by Dan Wijeratne with Kelum Aryan Kularatne for NK Films. It stars Kelum Kularatne, Chamathka Lakmini and newcomer Shehani Perera in lead roles whereas Gayathri Dias, Rex Kodippili and Shyam Fernando made supportive roles. Shehani is the younger sister of popular film actress Udari Perera. The screening of the film halted due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
