Washington Union School District
The Washington Union School District is a school district outside Salinas, California. It was established in 1869. Its middle school, San Benancio Middle School, is one of the few public schools in California to receive a GreatSchools Rating of 9 out of 10. The district consists of three schools; K–3 Toro Park Elementary School, 4–5 Washington Union Elementary School, and 6–9 San Benancio Middle School. Washington Union School has an extensive nature trail running through the hills behind the school. Trail maintenance and improvements are mostly performed by the students.
