This article lists political parties in Peru. Peru has a multi-party system with several political parties competing in legislative elections according to a party-list proportional representation system. As a consequence, it is rare for any single political organization to obtain an absolute majority in the Congress of Peru, thus, these parties often work with each other to form coalition governments. Right-wing Populism
Right-wing populism, also called national populism and right-wing nationalism, is a political ideology that combines right-wing politics and populist rhetoric and themes. Its rhetoric employs anti-elitist sentiments, opposition to the Establishment, and speaking to or for the "common people". Recurring themes of right-wing populists include neo-nationalism, social conservatism, and economic nationalism. Free Peru
Free Peru ( es, Perú Libre), officially the Free Peru National Political Party ( es, Partido Político Nacional Perú Libre), is a Marxist political party in Peru. Founded in 2008 as the Free Peru Political Regional Movement, the party was officially constituted as a national organization in February 2012 by the name of Libertarian Peru. It was registered as a political party in January 2016 and adopted its current name, Free Peru, in January 2019. Its presidential candidate Pedro Castillo won the 2021 Peruvian general election against Popular Force nominee Keiko Fujimori. Fujimorism
Fujimorism () denotes the policies and the political ideology of former President of Peru Alberto Fujimori as well as the personality cult built around him, his policies and his family. The ideology is defined by authoritarianism, its support for neoliberal economics, opposition to communism, and social conservatism, socially and cultural conservatism, culturally conservatism, conservative stances such as opposition to LGBT rights and school curriculums including gender equality or sex education. Opponents of Fujimorism are known as anti-Fujimorists, which have controlled the presidency since 2011. The party is led by Keiko Fujimori, former congresswoman and daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori. She ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in the 2011, 2016 and 2021 presidential elections, all losing by a narrow margin. Alliance for Progress ( es, Alianza para el Progreso, APP) is a Peruvian political party founded on December 8, 2001 in Trujillo by Cesar Acuña Peralta.
