Otoyol routes in Turkey follow a regional based two-digit numbering system. All routes have the prefix ''O'' on all signage and maps. Motorways that start in the Marmara Region are all single digit. Motorways that start in The Central Anatolia Region have a first digit of two. Motorways starting in the Aegean Region have a first digit of three. Motorways starting in the Mediterranean Region and Southeastern Anatolia Region have a first digit of five. The O-21A is the only motorway to have a letter assigned to it. Most motorways in Turkey have six lanes (3+3 lanes), however there are sections of some motorways with only four (2+2) lanes. Osman Gazi Bridge
The Osmangazi Bridge ( tr, Osman Gazi Köprüsü) is a suspension bridge spanning the Gulf of İzmit at its narrowest point, . The bridge links the Turkish city of Gebze to the Yalova Province and carries the O-5 motorway across the gulf. The bridge was opened on 1 July 2016 to become the then-longest suspension bridge in Turkey and the fourth-longest (seventh-longest as of 2022) suspension bridge in the world by the length of its central span. The length of the bridge was surpassed by the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge across the Dardanelles strait, which became the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was opened on 18 March 2022. Bornova is a metropolitan district of İzmir in İzmir Province in Turkey. It is the third largest district in İzmir's Greater Metropolitan Area of and is almost fully urbanized at the rate of 98.6 percent, with corresponding high levels of development in terms of industry and services. Gebze (,) is a district in Kocaeli Province, Turkey. It is situated 65 km (30 mi) southeast of Istanbul, on the Gulf of Izmit, the eastern arm of the Sea of Marmara. Gebze is the largest district per population size in the province as of 2020-exceeding İzmit, the provincial capital. Ataşehir is a district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is located at the junction of the O-2 and O-4 motorways on the Anatolian (Asian) side of Istanbul. Its neighbours are the districts of Ümraniye to the north, Sancaktepe to the northeast, Maltepe to the east, Kadıköy to the south and Üsküdar to the west. Edirne (, ), formerly known as Adrianople or Hadrianopolis (Greek: Άδριανούπολις), is a city in Turkey, in the northwestern part of the province of Edirne in Eastern Thrace. Otoyol 2 ( en, Motorway 2), abbreviated as , locally referred to as 2. ÇevreyoluUsually colloquially called TEM yolu or TEM in Turkish—which refers to Trans-European Motorway.
