North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Its original home at Arden Street continues to serve as its headquarters, training facilities and home ground for its women's side. The club's senior men's team plays its home matches at Marvel Stadium in the Docklands area of Melbourne, Victoria, as well as Blundstone Arena in Hobart, Tasmania which is also used by the women's team as a secondary home ground. Gerald Marchesi
Gerald Marchesi (4 December 1928 – 12 June 1990) was an Italian- Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). James Gordon Krakouer (born 13 October 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the 1980s and '90s for North Melbourne and St Kilda in the VFL and Claremont in the WAFL. He is the father of former Richmond and Collingwood AFL player Andrew Krakouer and is renowned for his quickness, skill, courageous play, and his ability to pass to his brother Phil from seemingly almost any position. Arnold Briedis (born 20 August 1955) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne in the VFL during the 1970s. Malcolm Blight
Malcolm Jack Blight AM (born 16 February 1950) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for and coached the North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Woodville Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He also coached the Geelong Football Club, Adelaide Football Club and St Kilda Football Club. Blight is to date the only player to have kicked 100 goals in a season in both the VFL and the SANFL. Wayne Schimmelbusch
Wayne Schimmelbusch (born 19 January 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer in the (then) Victorian Football League (VFL). Schimmelbusch played in 306 games, including 29 finals games, for the North Melbourne Football Club, which was then a club games played record. He was recruited in 1973 from the Brunswick Football Club in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), where he won the J. J. Field Trophy as the VFA second division's best and fairest in 1972. His retirement in 1987 was forced due to a serious knee injury sustained during a match against the Sydney Swans. Schimmelbusch was appointed coach of the North Melbourne Football Club in 1990. Doug Wade
Douglas Graeme Wade (born 16 October 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club and North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was the League's leading goal scorer (winning the Coleman Medal) on four occasions from 1962 until 1974. He was only the second player (after Collingwood's Gordon Coventry), and the first post-WW2 to kick over 1,000 goals in his career. Douglas Ian Farrant (born 2 April 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Perth in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Gary Farrant (born 7 September 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer for North Melbourne Football Club and was a regular defender during the late 1960s until 1971. During 1972 he went back to his home club Cohuna Football Club and also return to his farming commitments.
