Doug Farrant
Douglas Ian Farrant (born 2 April 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Perth in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Farrant, a Cohuna recruit, was the full-forward in North Melbourne's 1967 reserves premiership. He topped North Melbourne's goal-kicking in 1968 with 35 goals. His brother, Gary Farrant, finished second. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. Perth Football Club
The Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Demons, is an Australian rules football club based in Lathlain, Western Australia, currently playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Representing the south-east area of the Perth metropolitan region, the club currently trains and plays its home games at Lathlain Park (currently known, for sponsorship reasons, as Mineral Resources Park), having previously played at the WACA Ground between 1899 and 1958 and later in 1987 and 1988. The club was founded in 1899 and began play in the First Rate Junior Association, but was promoted to the WAFL after eight games to replace the Rovers Football Club after they dropped out of the league and folded, with Perth drawing much of its inaugural WAFL squad from Rovers. Full-forward is a position in Australian rules football and Gaelic football with a key focus on kicking goals. The Coleman Medal is awarded to the player, often a full-forward, who has kicked the most goals in an Australian Football League season. Gary Farrant
Gary Farrant (born 7 September 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer for North Melbourne Football Club and was a regular defender during the late 1960s until 1971. During 1972 he went back to his home club Cohuna Football Club and also return to his farming commitments. However, he was persuaded by Ron Barassi to come back to the club and returned to the club in 1973. Gary Farrant was a member of North Melbourne's first VFL Premiership, where he played at centre half back. This was his final year at North Melbourne. 1973 VFL Season
The 1973 VFL season was the 77th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 7 April until 29 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. Barry Thomas Cable MBE (born 22 September 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach. Considered one of the greatest rovers in the sport's history, he played in 379 premiership games in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) and the Victorian Football League (VFL), and later coached in both competitions. Born in Narrogin, Western Australia, Cable made his debut with the Perth Football Club in the WANFL in 1962, and won the Sandover Medal as the fairest and best player in the competition in 1964.
