List Of Non-marine Molluscs Of Laos
The non-marine molluscs of Laos are a part of the fauna of Laos ( wildlife of Laos). A number of species of molluscs are found in the wild in Laos. Laos is landlocked country, so there are no marine molluscs. Almost all groups of the land snail fauna in Laos have been less-well studied than those of neighbouring areas. The Lao People’s Democratic Republic, until recently encompassed some of the most significant forest areas remaining in Southeast Asia such as mountainous areas in the north and limestone karsts in central area, and some of the most intact biota left in Asia. Those habitat characteristics also harbor diverse of terrestrial molluscan fauna. Freshwater gastropods Freshwater gastropods in Laos include: Viviparidae * ''Filopaludina martensi'' (Frauenfeld, 1864) * '' Filopaludina filosa'' (Reeve, 1863) * ''Filopaludina sumatrensis'' (Dunker, 1852) Pachychilidae * ''Sulcospira housei'' (I. Lea, 1856) Pomatiopsidae * ''Neotricula aperta'' (Temcharoen, 1971)Attwo ...

Neotricula Aperta
''Neotricula aperta'' is a species of freshwater snail, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Pomatiopsidae. This species serves as a sole intermediate host for the fluke ''Schistosoma mekongi'', that causes Mekong schistosomiasis. Distribution Currently, ''Neotricula aperta'' is known from 31 localities in Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, involving nine river systems. The known range of ''Neotricula aperta'' is from just south of Kratié in the Mekong river of Cambodia to Kong Lor in Savannakhet of central Laos. This species occurs: *Along the Mekong River in Cambodia and in the upper Xe Kong river valley in northeastern Cambodia * Laos * In Northeast Thailand The type locality is Ban Na on Khong Island, Laos. Description A detailed account of the anatomy of ''Neotricula aperta'' was given by Davis et al. in 1976.Davis G. M., Kitikoon V. & Temcharoen P. (1976). "Monograph on “''Lithoglyphopsis''” ''aperta'', the snail host of Mekong river schistosomiasis". ''Mal ...

Visaya
The Visayas ( ), or the Visayan Islands (Visayan: ''Kabisay-an'', ; tl, Kabisayaan ), are one of the three principal geographical divisions of the Philippines, along with Luzon and Mindanao. Located in the central part of the archipelago, it consists of several islands, primarily surrounding the Visayan Sea, although the Visayas are also considered the northeast extremity of the entire Sulu Sea. Its inhabitants are predominantly the Visayan peoples. The major islands of the Visayas are Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte and Samar. The region may also include the provinces of Palawan, Romblon, and Masbate whose populations identify as Visayan and whose languages are more closely related to other Visayan languages than to the major languages of Luzon. There are three administrative regions in the Visayas: Western Visayas (pop. 7.9 million), Central Visayas (8 million) and Eastern Visayas (4.5 million). The Negros Island Region existed from 2015 to 2017, separating Negros Occid ...

Clausiliidae
Clausiliidae, also known by their common name the door snails, are a taxonomic family of small, very elongate, mostly left-handed, air-breathing land snails, sinistral terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks.MolluscaBase eds. (2020). MolluscaBase. Clausiliidae L. Pfeiffer & J. E. Gray, 1855. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=833936 on 2020-08-25 With about 1,300 species recent and fossil, this belong among the most diverse families of land gastropods (cf. Orthalicidae, although the marine gastropod family Pyramidellidae is larger). Most species of Clausiliidae have an anatomical structure known as a clausilium, which enables the snail to close off the aperture of the shell with a sliding "door". Shell description Almost all the species of snails in the family of door snails are left-handed, which is an uncommon feature in gastropod shells in general. These snails have shells which are extremely high ...

Folia Malacologica
''La Folía'' (Spanish), or ''Follies'' (English), also known as ''folies d'Espagne'' (French), ''La Follia'' (Italian), and ''Folia'' (Portuguese), is one of the oldest remembered European musical themes, or primary material, generally melodic, of a composition, on record. The theme exists in two versions, referred to as early and late ''folias'', the earlier being faster. History Due to its musical form, style and etymology of the name, it has been suggested that the melody arose as a dance in the mid or late fifteenth century throughout the Iberian Peninsula, either in Portugal or in the area of the old Kingdom of León, or maybe in the Kingdom of Valencia. The epithet "Folia" has several meanings in music. Western classical music features both "early Folia", which can take different shapes, and the better-known "later Folia" (also known as "Follia" with double l in Italy, "Folies d'Espagne" in France, and "'s Ground" in England). Recent research suggests that the or ...
