Delmont is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Maurice River Township, in Cumberland County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08314. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 122. The community was founded by European settlers in 1770. Until 1891, it was called Ewings Neck. The Ewing family was one of the first to settle in the area and a "neck" is a name often given to a stretch of higher ground surrounded by marshes and low-lands. Riverfront State Prison
Riverfront State Prison (RSP) is a former prison in Camden, New Jersey that was operated by the New Jersey Department of Corrections from August 12, 1985, to 2009. It was located in the neighborhood of Cooper Point at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Elm Street. The prison first opened after the state paid Camden money in exchange for receiving a plot of land that was used to establish the prison. In 2007, while the state was preparing to close Riverfront, it considered establishing a replacement state prison in Cumberland County, which already had three other state prisons. Burlington County Prison
The Burlington County Prison is a historic museum property, located next to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly Township, Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. Operating from 1811 to 1965, it was the oldest prison in the nation at the time of its closure. Designed by Robert Mills, its design exemplified period thinking in progressive prison design, with individual cells, good ventilation, and fireproof construction. Now operated by a local nonprofit as a museum, it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
