Can-Met Mine
The Can-Met Mine is an abandoned uranium mine located approximately 12.5 km northeast of Elliot Lake, Ontario, owned by Denison Mines Ltd. The site has been rehabilitated and its tailings facility (shared with the Stanrock Mine) is currently undergoing environmental monitoring by Denison Environmental Services. The site was in operation from 1957 to 1960, during which time it produced 2.6 million tonnes of ore. History The property was staked by Carl Mattaini and owned by Can-Met Explorations Limited. In 1957, eleven holes were diamond drilled, each drilling found ore-bearing conglomerate averaging 16 feet thick. 1958 ore reserves were reported to be 6,642,380 tons with a grade of 1.832 pounds of U308 per ton. The mine had shafts, 500 feet apart, at 2,127 feet and 2,395 feet deep. An ore plant capable of processing 3,000 tons of ore a day was finished in October 1957. Production started December 1957. Dyno Mine
Dyno Mine is a decommissioned underground uranium mine located at Cardiff, near Farrel Lake, approximately 30km southwest of Bancroft, Ontario. It operated from 1958 to 1960. Uranium discovery - 1922 to 1956 Uranium was first discovered in the area of Cardiff (now known as Highlands East) in 1922 by W. M. Richardson. Between 1953 and 1956, one hundred area prospects were opened, including one by Paul Mulliette of Toronto who discovered uranium in 1953, which was developed into Dyno Mine. Mine operations - 1956 to 1960 In 1956, brush was cleared to create 200 houses in Cardiff, some for executives of nearby Bicroft Mine and a settlement called ''Dyno Estates'' was built near Ontario Highway 28 for executives of Dyno Mine. Dome Mine
Dome Mine is situated in the City of Timmins, Ontario, Canada; and was developed during the Porcupine Gold Rush. It is now known as part of Newmont - Porcupine. The original Dome Mine (Tisdale Township) was discovered by Jack Wilson of the Harry Preston crew in 1909. Goldcorp ceased the mining operations December 31, 2017 after 107 years of production. An enormous discontinued open pit (Super Pit), huge man-made mountain of waste rock and working mill are now in place at the location. At one time a community of approximately 60 houses owned by Dome Mines and leased to miners with families existed. This was the community of Dome. The vein Preston discovered dripped with gold and was referred to as the Golden Staircase. Detour Gold Mine

Standard operating procedure for many roads departments is to route any detour over roads within the same jurisdiction as the road with the obstructed area. Denison Mine
Consolidated Denison Mine, or the Denison Mine is an abandoned uranium mine located approximately 12.5 km north of Elliot Lake, Ontario. The site is bordered north by Pronto Mine, Quirke Mine and Nordic Mine; on the east by Panel Mine and Can-Met Mine; and south by Spanish American Mine and Stanrock Mine. Creighton Mine
Creighton Mine is an underground nickel, copper, and platinum-group elements (PGE) mine. It is presently owned and operated by Vale Limited (formerly known as INCO) in the city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Open pit mining began in 1901, and underground mining began in 1906. The mine is situated in the Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC) in its South Range geologic unit. The mine is the source of many excavation-related seismic events, such as earthquakes and rock burst events. It is home to SNOLAB, and is currently the deepest nickel mine in Canada. Coppersand Mine
Coppersand Mine is an abandoned copper mine in Temagami, Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is located near the eastern shore of Ferguson Bay of Lake Temagami. A winter road from Sandy Inlet through Coppersand Lake was created to the mine in 1957. Subsequently, a small road, known as Miner's Road, was constructed off Kokoko Sideroad in 1970 to access the mine. Mining from the late 1950s to 1970s resulted in the creation of a small open pit. Copperfields Mine
Copperfields Mine, originally known as Temagami Mine, is an abandoned copper and silver mine on Temagami Island in Lake Temagami, Ontario, Canada. The mine opened in 1955 and comprises both underground and surface workings within a sulfide ore body. Situated in Phyllis Township, the mine produced 34,000,000 dollars Canadian with 80 million pounds of copper, 230,028 ounces of silver and 13,271 ounces of gold. It was considered to be the largest deposit of nearly pure chalcopyrite ever discovered in Canada. A mill was not initially needed because the ore was 28% copper. The mine closed in 1972 and is now flooded by water. Ruins of the Copperfields mill are present as foundations. It is possible to find mineral specimens in the spoil heaps of the old mine, such as chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, malachite, dolomite, hessite, merenskyite, millerite, palladium, quartz and others. Copper Cliff North Mine is an underground nickel mine in Copper Cliff, Ontario, Canada. It is owned and operated by Vale Canada Limited. The mine was the 2007 winner of the John T. Ryan Trophy for metal mines. Employing approximately 260 people, the mine went through 2006 without a lost-time-accident, producing of 4,200 tonnes of ore per day.
