Roberto Gavaldón
Roberto Gavaldón (June 7, 1909 in Jiménez, Chihuahua – September 4, 1986 in Mexico City) was a Mexican film director. Eight of Gavaldón's films were featured on the list 100 Best Movies of the Cinema of Mexico. His 1958 film ''Ash Wednesday'' was entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival and his 1959 film ''Beyond All Limits'' was entered into the following years festival. His 1960 film '' Macario'' was entered into the 1960 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. El Ministro Y Yo
''El ministro y yo'' ( es, The Minister and I) is a 1976 Mexican film directed by Miguel M. Delgado and starring Cantinflas, Chela Castro, Lucía Méndez and Ángel Garasa.García Riera, p. 174 It is the last film in which Cantinflas acted alongside Garasa. Plot Mateo Melgarejo "Mateito" (Cantinflas) is a notary public and scribe for the illiterate people of Santo Domingo, a neighborhood north of Mexico City's Zócalo. A squatter friend asks for his help in negotiating with the land census bureau to regularize a land title. After a great deal of frustration with the government bureaucracy, he writes a letter to the cabinet minister, Don Antonio (Miguel Manzano), earning an audience with him. The minister is so pleased with Mateo's honesty that he hires him to reform the bureau. Mateo also ends up making friends with the minister's sister Vicky (Chela Castro) and the minister's daughter Bárbara (Lucía Méndez). 1976 Cannes Film Festival
The 29th Cannes Film Festival was held from 13 to 28 May 1976. The Palme d'Or went to ''Taxi Driver'' by Martin Scorsese. In 1976, "L'Air du temps", a new section which was non-competitive and focused on contemporary subjects, was introduced. This section, along with sections "Les Yeux fertiles" of the previous year and "Le Passé composé" of the next year, were integrated into Un Certain Regard in 1978. The festival opened with the documentary ''That's Entertainment, Part II'', directed by Gene Kelly, and closed with '' Family Plot'', directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Miguel Littín
Miguel Ernesto Littin Cucumides (born 9 August 1942) is a Chilean film director, screenwriter, film producer and novelist. He was born to a Palestinian father, Hernán Littin and a Greek mother, Cristina Cucumides. Career Miguel Littin directed ''El Chacal de Nahueltoro'' (1969) becoming a figure of the New Latin American Cinema. Littin was exiled in México shortly after Augusto Pinochet came to power in a military coup, which ousted President Salvador Allende, on September 11, 1973. Leonor Llausás
Leonor Llausás Tostado (August 3, 1929 - February 13, 2003) was a Mexican television and film actress who appeared in over 100 works of film and television. She was nominated multiple times for the Ariel Awards and won a Best Actress award in 1955 from the film Los Fernandez we peralvillo, in 1975 won Diosa de Plata (Silver Goddess Award) for Las poquianchis. María del Pilar Pellicer López de Llergo (12 February 1938 – 16 May 2020) was a Mexican actress. At the 17th Ariel Awards, she won the Ariel Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film ''La Choca'' (1974). Biography Pilar was daughter of lawyer César Pellicer Sánchez and wife María del Pilar López de Llergo, both from Tabasco. At age 18, Pilar studied at the Academy of Contemporary Dance, and was trained by Seki Sano. Pilar later abandoned dance to study philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She also studied at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura. She debuted as an actress in the movie ''El vendedor de muñecas'' in 1955.
