1976 Cannes Film Festival
The 29th Cannes Film Festival was held from 13 to 28 May 1976. The Palme d'Or went to ''Taxi Driver'' by Martin Scorsese. In 1976, "L'Air du temps", a new section which was non-competitive and focused on contemporary subjects, was introduced. This section, along with sections "Les Yeux fertiles" of the previous year and "Le Passé composé" of the next year, were integrated into Un Certain Regard in 1978. The festival opened with the documentary ''That's Entertainment, Part II'', directed by Gene Kelly, and closed with '' Family Plot'', directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Wojciech Siudmak
Wojciech Kazimierz "Wojtek" Siudmak (born 10 October 1942 in Wieluń) is a Polish painter, currently living in France. He was a student at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His works are often used as illustrations for science fiction and fantasy literature, including the Polish edition of Frank Herbert's '' Dune'' series. He is also known for his work on album covers, including the award-winning cover for Eloy's 1977 album ''Ocean''. Siudmak painted in 1985 a picture ''Ethernal Love'', he continues the subject e.g. in the form of monuments. András Kovács (film Director)
András Kovács (20 June 1925 – 11 March 2017) was a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. He directed 30 films between 1961 and 1996. His 1968 film '' The Lost Generation'' was entered into the 6th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1978 film ''A ménesgazda'' was entered into the 29th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1981 film ''Temporary Paradise'' won the Silver Prize at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. Carlos Saura
Carlos Saura Atarés (born 4 January 1932) is a Spanish film director, photographer and writer. Along with Luis Buñuel and Pedro Almodóvar, he is considered to be one of Spain’s most renowned filmmakers. He has a long and prolific career that spans over half a century. His films have won many international awards. Saura began his career in 1955 making documentary shorts. He quickly gained international prominence when his first feature-length film premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 1960. ''Cría Cuervos'' (''Raise ravens'') is a 1976 Spanish drama film directed by Carlos Saura. The film is an allegorical drama about an eight-year-old girl dealing with loss. Sir Alan William Parker (14 February 1944 – 31 July 2020) was an English filmmaker. His early career, beginning in his late teens, was spent as a copywriter and director of television advertisements. ''Bugsy Malone'' is a 1976 gangster musical comedy film written and directed by Alan Parker (in his feature film directorial debut). Ettore Scola
Ettore Scola (; 10 May 1931 – 19 January 2016) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. He received a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 1978 for his film ''A Special Day'' and over the course of his film career was nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Jean Rouch (; 31 May 1917 – 18 February 2004) was a French filmmaker and anthropologist. He is considered one of the founders of cinéma vérité in France. Rouch's practice as a filmmaker, for over 60 years in Africa, was characterized by the idea of ''shared anthropology''. Influenced by his discovery of surrealism in his early twenties, many of his films blur the line between fiction and documentary, creating a new style: ethnofiction.
