Limpopo Provincial Legislature
The Limpopo Provincial Legislature is the primary legislative body of the South African province of Limpopo. It is unicameral in its composition, and elects the premier and the provincial cabinet, the Limpopo Executive Council, from among the members of the leading party or coalition in the parliament. The first legislature was inaugurated in May 1994 as the Northern Transvaal Provincial Legislature. It was renamed in 1995 to the Northern Province Provincial Legislature, and again in 2003 to the Limpopo Provincial Legislature. The Sixth Legislature was elected on 8 May 2019 in South Africa's 2019 general election. A majority of the members belong to the African National Congress. Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya
Mavhungu Maureen Lerule-Ramakhanya is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, Lerule-Ramakhanya is a former mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality. She was elected as a Member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature in May 2019. She was then elected as the speaker of the legislature. In March 2020, Lerule-Ramakhanya was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Transport and Community Safety. She was moved to the Education portfolio of the executive council in June 2022. Political career Lerule-Ramakhanya is a long-standing member the African National Congress. She took office as mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality on 1 December 2008, succeeding Glory Mashaba. In April 2012, the ANC provincial executive committee resolved to remove three mayors. Jerry Maseko
Funani Jerry Maseko (born 21 July 1966) is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2019. He was elected to his seat in the 2019 general election, ranked 11th on the ANC's party list. Maseko was born on 21 July 1966. He was active in anti-apartheid student politics while training as a teacher in the 1980s, and in the 1990s he ascended the local and regional ranks of the ANC Youth League in the province. Jacob Marule
Jacob Boy Otto Marule is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2019. During an earlier period of service in the provincial legislature, he was Limpopo's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Agriculture from March 2012 until July 2013. A former member of Umkhonto weSizwe (MK), he is active in the ANC Veterans' League. Marule was a member of MK's Luthuli Detachment, which undertook the Wankie Campaign of 1967. The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus; af, Vryheidsfront Plus, ''VF Plus'') is a right-wing political party in South Africa that was formed (as the Freedom Front) in 1994. It is led by Pieter Groenewald. Marcelle Frieda Maritz is a South African politician who has been serving as a Member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2019. She is a member of the Freedom Front Plus (FF+) and the party's provincial leader. She served as a municipal councillor of the Mogalakwena Local Municipality prior to her appointment to provincial legislature. Maritz was a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) until 2015, when she resigned from the party after allegations of racism. The DA soon laid criminal charges regarding racism against her in 2019. Tebogo Portia Mamorobela is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since October 2022. Before that, she served a brief stint in the National Council of Provinces from February to October 2022. She was formerly a local councillor in Makhado. Mmamora Lilliet Mamaregane is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since October 2022.
