The List of members from the first term of the Assembly of Experts. ( fa, فهرست نمایندگان دوره نخست مجلس خبرگان رهبری, Fehreste nâmâyandegân dore nakhost majles-e khobregân-e rahbari) consists of names of the members during the first term of the Assembly of Experts from 1982 to 1990. Elections for the Assembly of Experts occurs every 8 years. "Assembly of experts (of the Leadership)", or the "Council of Experts" is the deliberative body empowered to appoint and dismiss the Supreme Leader of Iran; and Seyyed Ali Khamenei is the current supreme leader of Iran. Ruhollah Khomeini was the supreme leader of Iran during this term. The elections took place on 10 December 1982, with the Inauguration occurring on 14 July 1983. Assembly Of Experts
The Assembly of Experts ( fa, مجلس خبرگان رهبری, majles-e khobregân-e rahbari), also translated as the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership or as the Council of Experts, is the deliberative body empowered to appoint the Supreme Leader of Iran. All directly elected members must first be vetted by the Guardian Council. All candidates to the Assembly of Experts must be approved by the Guardian Council whose members are, in turn, appointed either directly or indirectly by the Supreme Leader. The Assembly consists of 88 Mujtahids that are elected(see Article 108 of the constitution) from lists of thoroughly vetted candidates (in 2016 166 candidates were approved by the Guardians out of 801 who applied to run for the office), by direct public vote for eight-year terms. The number of members has ranged from 82 elected in 1982 to 88 elected in 2016. Current laws require the assembly to meet at least twice every six months. Assad-Allah Imani
Assad-Allah Imani ( fa, اسد‌الله ایمانی), (or Asadullah Imani) (1947 – 7 May 2018) was an Iranian Twelver Shia scholar, who was a member of assembly of experts, and also the Imam of Prayer in Shiraz. Family and life Assad-Allah Imani was born in the city of Kazeroun ( Fars province) in a religious family, and his family were known of "professing Islam". His ancestor was Karbalayi-Assadollah, and his father was Muhammad Sadeq Imani. Imani passed his elementary-school at the city of Kazeroun; he also passed the first-three years of Hawzah primary lessons by the side of his city's scholars. In 1962, he departed for Qom, and educated by the sides of scholars such as Mohammad Fazel Lankarani, Naser Makarem Shirazi and Ja'far Sobhani. Ali Movahedi-Kermani
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi-Kermani ( fa, محمدعلی موحدی کرمانی) is Tehran's Friday Prayer Ephemeral Imam and the former secretary-general of Combatant Clergy Association. He is also a member of the Assembly of Experts. He is a conservative and principlist politician. He was formerly one of the deputy speakers in the Islamic Consultative Assembly. Political career Movahedi won 685,974 votes of the Kerman Province for his re-election to the 4th Assembly of Experts. He was ranked 2nd after Ahmad Khatami in the constituency. Jalal Al-Din Taheri
Seyyed Jalaleddin Taheri Esfahani ( fa, سید جلال‌الدین طاهری اصفهانی, sometimes spelled Jalaluddin Taheri or Jalaleddin Taheri, 1 January 1926 – 2 June 2013) was an Iranian scholar, theologian and Islamic philosopher. He was a critic of Islamic extremism and was the representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran. Career Taheri was a member of Assembly of Experts and representative of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Isfahan province. In 2002, Taheri resigned after 30 years as prayer leader in Isfahan. Taheri's resignation letter complained of "generalized corruption of religious power in Iran." On 30 June 2009, Taheri wrote an open letter in which he called Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's presidency illegitimate. Death Taheri died on 2 June 2013 at near 5 A.M after 35 days of hospitalization due to Respiratory arrest in one of the Isfahan's hospital. He suffered respiratory disease for a long time. Ayatollah Abdul Rahman Heidari Ilami
Ayatollah Abdul Rahman Heidari Ilami (1925 - 1 January 1987) ( fa, آیت الله عبدالرحمن حیدری ایلامی) was an Iranian-Kurdish Muslim scholar and member of the first term of the Assembly of Experts in Iran. He organised popular resistance to Iraq's invasion of Iran. Ayatollah Heidari was a representative of Ayatollah Khomeini in Ilam Province in the Assembly of Experts. He established himself as a conservative thinker with his comments regarding the rule of the supreme leader and statements generally against liberal ideology. Heidari died in 1986. His body was buried near the shrine of Fātimah bint Mūsā. Grand Ayatollah Hossein Noori-Hamedani ( fa, آيت الله العظمى حسين نورى همدانى ) (born March 21, 1925) is an Iranian Twelver Shi'a Marja', Marja. Nuri-Hamadani has been called a "hard-line cleric". He has expressed his strong disapproval of Sufism, Sufis and dervishes, Jews, the intellectual Abdolkarim Soroush and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. Biography Hosein Nuri-Hamadani was born in Hamadan, Iran. After finishing elementary studies in Hamadan, at the age of 17 he moved to Qom, Iran to continue his religious studies.
