Melbourne City FC, Melbourne City Football Club is an association football club based in Cranbourne East, Victoria, Cranbourne East, Melbourne. The club was formed in 2009 as Melbourne Heart before it was renamed to Melbourne City. They became the second Victorian member admitted into the A-League Men in 2010. Melbourne City entered the A-League Men in the 2010–11 A-League, 2010–11 season, following the club's formation in 2009. The club was for its four seasons called Melbourne Heart FC, though ahead of the 2014–15 A-League, 2014–15 season it was bought by the City Football Group and rebranded Melbourne City FC. Melbourne City Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in the south–eastern Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne East, that plays in the A-League, the top level of Australian soccer, under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). Founded in 2009 as Melbourne Heart, the club competed under that name from its inaugural 2010–11 season until they were rebranded in mid-2014 by the City Football Group (CFG), in partnership with Holding M.S. Australia. In August 2015, City Football Group bought out the Holding M.S. Australia consortium to have 100% ownership of the club. 2014 FFA Cup
The 2014 FFA Cup was the inaugural season of the FFA Cup, the main national soccer knockout cup competition in Australia. 631 teams in total from around Australia entered the competition. Only 32 teams competed in the competition proper (Round of 32), including the 10 A-League teams and 22 Football Federation Australia (FFA) member federation teams determined through individual state preliminary rounds held in early 2014 (and 2013 in the case of the ACT). David Joel Williams (born 26 February 1988) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Perth Glory. Williams is the first Indigenous Australian player to play for A-League club Melbourne City. He also represented Australia's national team twice. Born in Brisbane, Williams played youth football at the Queensland Academy of Sport before making his professional debut for Queensland Roar. The 2013–14 A-League was the 37th season of top-flight soccer in Australia, and the ninth of the A-League since its establishment in 2004.
