Teresina is the capital and most populous municipality in the Brazilian state of Piauí. Being located in north-central Piauí 366 km from the coast, it is the only capital in the Brazilian Northeast that is not located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Piaui (, ) is one of the states of Brazil, located in the country's Northeast Region. The state has 1.6% of the Brazilian population and produces 0.7% of the Brazilian GDP. Bona Medeiros
José Raimundo Bona Medeiros, most commonly known as Bona Madeiros, (December 24, 1930 – April 6, 2017) was a Brazilian lawyer and politician. He served as the Governor of Piauí from 1986 to 1987, Vice Governor of Piauí from 1983 to 1986, and Mayor of Teresina, the state capital, from 1969 to 1970 and again from 1979 to 1982. He also served in the state Legislative Assembly of Piauí for seven terms. Madeiros was born in União, Piauí, on December 24, 1930. He studied at the Universidade Federal do Piauí (Federal University of Piauí). Medeiros was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Piauí in 1962. he eventually served as the President of the Legislative Assembly. Firmino Filho
Firmino da Silveira Soares Filho (16 December 1963 – 6 April 2021) was a Brazilian economist and politician. A member of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, he served as Mayor of Teresina from 1997 to 2004 and again from 2013 to 2020. With three terms, he matched the amount of his predecessor, .
