Flag Of Bangladesh
The national flag, national flag of Bangladesh, was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc or sun on top of a dark green banner. The red disc is offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centered when the flag is flying. While there are many interpretations, according to Shib Narayan Das who put the map on the first flag design, green on the flag represented the landscape and the red circle represented the sun, symbolising a new day and end of oppression. The flag is based on a similar flag used during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which had a yellow map of the country inside the red disc. In 1972 this map was removed from the flag. One reason given was the difficulty for rendering the map correctly on both sides of the flag. Jatiya Party (Ershad)
The Jatiya Party ( bn, জাতীয় পার্টি, translit=Jatiyo Party, lit=National Party) is a conservative, nationalist political party in Bangladesh and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammad Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. Islami Andolan Bangladesh ( bn, ইসলামী আন্দোলন বাংলাদেশ, lit=Islamic Movement of Bangladesh) is one of the biggest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1987 by Fazlul Karim as Islami Shashontantra Andolan (Islamic Constitutional Movement), and took its current name in 2008. Its student wing is Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh. Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, known as Mirza Abbas, (born 7 February 1951) is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a member of the national standing committee of the party. He was the Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation from 1991 to 1993. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dhaka-6 from 2001 to 2006, and Minister of Housing and Public Works in Khaleda's cabinet. 2020 Dhaka South City Corporation Election
The 2020 mayoral election of Dhaka South City Corporation was held on 1 February 2020. A total of 6 major candidates participated in the election. The result was a victory for the Awami League candidate Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh. Ishraque Hossain of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party received the second highest number of votes. It was one of the first major election in Bangladesh conducted entirely using electronic voting machines (EVMs) alongside the 2020 Dhaka North City Corporation election. Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh (born 19 November 1971) is a Bangladeshi politician and former mayor of South Dhaka. He previously served as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad for Dhaka-10 and Dhaka-12 from the Bangladesh Awami League. Early life Taposh was born on 19 November 1971 to Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and Arzu Moni. His parents were both assassinated on 15 August 1975 in a military coup that also killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family.
