Islami Andolan Bangladesh
Islami Andolan Bangladesh ( bn, ইসলামী আন্দোলন বাংলাদেশ, lit=Islamic Movement of Bangladesh) is one of the biggest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1987 by Fazlul Karim as Islami Shashontantra Andolan (Islamic Constitutional Movement), and took its current name in 2008. Its student wing is Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh. They have campaigned in favour of a blasphemy law and organised rallies in support for a restoration of the caretaker government of Bangladesh, as well as demanding punishment of former government minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui for his comments criticizing Hajj and Muhammad. Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) has submitted a memorandum to the UN demanding an end to the violence in Rakhine state of Myanmar. Fazlul Karim (scholar)
Syed Muhammad Fazlul Karim ( bn, সৈয়দ মোহম্মদ ফজলুল করিম; 1935 – 25 November 2006) was an Islamic scholar and politician. He was the founder of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and founded a residential madrassah in Charmonai, Barisal, southern Bangladesh. Early life and education Syed Muhammad Fazlul Karim was born in 1935, in the village of Charmonai in Barisal, Bengal Province. He belonged to a Bengali Muslim family who were the hereditary '' Pirs of Charmonai'', with his grandfather, Sayed Amjad Ali, being a descendant of Ali, the fourth Caliph of Islam. His father, Syed Muhammad Ishaq, was the first Pir of Charmonai. Karim began studying with his father at an early age, later joining his father's madrasa in Charmonai. Abdul Latif Siddiqui (born 1943) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He represented the Tangail-4 constituency for two terms in the Bangladesh Parliament. He served as the Minister of Textiles and Jute in the second Hasina ministry and Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology in the third Hasina ministry.
