List Of Mayors Of North Sydney
The Mayor of North Sydney is the head of North Sydney Council, which is the local government area in the lower north shore region of Sydney including North Sydney, Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Crows Nest in the State of New South Wales, Australia. From 1983 to 2017, the mayor was directly elected, replacing the previous system of being internally elected annually by the councillors, nominally serving a four-year term. Following a constitutional referendum in 2017, the mayor is now elected for a two-year term by the elected councillors, effective from the 2021 elections, and the office is currently held by Zoë Baker since 10 January 2022. The mayor is assisted in their work by a Deputy mayor, who is elected on an annual basis by the elected councillors. Joseph Vincent Bugler
Joseph Vincent Bugler (1898 – 3 August 1994) was an Australian printer and local government politician who served as an alderman and mayor of the Municipality of North Sydney and the Municipality of Newtown. Early life and career Bugler was born in 1898 in Ashfield in the Colony of New South Wales, the only son of Jane Ryan and Thomas Bugler of Stanmore, who was originally from Galway, Ireland. He received his early education at Christian Brothers' High School, Lewisham. While resident at 131 Enmore Road, Bugler established a printing business in Newtown. In September 1924, Bugler was fined £20 for being in breach of the Printing Act by not printing his name and address on sweep tickets, and £20 for running an unregistered printing press at 95 Enmore Road and 1 Trafalgar Street, Newtown. John Lincoln (judge)
John Francis Lincoln (30 July 1916 – 14 November 2011) was an Australian judge of the District Court of New South Wales and a New South Wales Electoral Commissioner. For thirty years he was Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle and at the time of his death he was Emeritus Deputy Chancellor of Macquarie University. John Cramer (Australian Politician)
Sir John Oscar Cramer (18 February 189618 May 1994) was an Australian businessman and politician. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served in federal parliament from 1949 to 1974, representing the seat of Bennelong. He served as Minister for the Army in the Menzies government from 1956 to 1963. He was also mayor of North Sydney from 1939 to 1941. The Labor Daily
The ''Labor Daily'' was a Sydney-based journal/newspaper of the early to mid 20th century. An organ of the Australian Labor Party, it was published in Sydney by Stanley Roy Wasson after the ailing ''Daily Mail'' was absorbed by Labor Papers Ltd, who began publication under that name on 6 January 1922 with the strong support of Albert Willis and the Miners' Federation. Willis was managing director 1926–1931 and chairman 1924–1930 and one of the most powerful political figures in the state. George Thomas Clarke (13 November 1853 – 11 March 1925) was an Australian local government politician, accountant and estate agent. Francis Clarke (25 March 185718 May 1939) was an Australian politician. Early life Clarke was born in Stroud, Colony of New South Wales, the son of Thomas Clarke and Ellen Walsh. He attended St Stanislaus' College at Bathurst before becoming a surveyor.
