In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Onno Hoes (born 5 June 1961) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and businessman. He was the acting Mayor of Haarlemmermeer from 28 November 2017 till 10 July 2019 He was Mayor of Maastricht from 1 November 2010 till 30 June 2015. Gerardus Bernardus Maria "Gerd" Leers (born 12 July 1951) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party. He is the acting Mayor of Brunssum since 1 January 2018. Biography Politics On 4 September 1990 Leers became a Member of the House of Representatives. He was a member of the permanent parliamentary commission for transport and water management.
