Store Koldewey
Store Koldewey, meaning 'Big Koldewey', is the largest of the Koldewey Islands in King Frederick VIII Land, northeastern Greenland. History The island was visited by the Second German North Polar Expedition 1869–70, led by Carl Koldewey and referred to as ''Grosse Koldewey Insel'' in the astronomy section of the expedition report, but this may not have been intended as a formal name. The present island was shown on Koldewey's maps as three islands. However, the 1906–08 Danmark Expedition showed them to be connected and called the island Store Koldewey. Lindhard Island
Lindhard Island ( da, Lindhard Ø) is an uninhabited island of NE Greenland. Geography The island lies at the western edge of Dove Bay, east of the Bredebrae, the broad glacier producing masses of large icebergs, at the head of Borg Fjord to the north of the island. The Bredebrae is formed by the confluence of two large glaciers east of Queen Louise Land, the Storstrommen flowing from the north and the L. Bistrup Brae from the south. The island has an area of 263.3 km ² and a shoreline of 115.5 kilometres. Lindhard Island was visited and explored on March 26, 1913, by the 1912–13 Danish Expedition to Queen Louise Land and Across the North Greenland Ice Sheet led by J.P. Koch. ÃŽle-de-France is an uninhabited island of the Greenland Sea, Greenland. The island has an area of 246.1 km ² and a shoreline of 71.9 kilometres. Qeqertaq Island
Qeqertarsuaq, also known as Qeqertaq meaning just "Island", is an island in Avannaata municipality, near Upernavik, in northwestern Greenland. It is located in the Upernavik Archipelago in the Melville Bay of the Baffin Bay. Geography Qeqertaq is the second largest island in the Upernavik Archipelago, after Nutaarmiut. The only settlement is Upernavik Kujalleq (Søndre Upernavik) near ''Qugdlungut'', its southern cape. The island is located towards the southern end of the archipelago, separated from the mainland shore by a narrow sound and has an area of 250.03 km2. 'Qeqertarsuaq' (meaning "Large Island") is the name of several islands in Greenland. The island near Upernavik should not be confused with the much larger Qeqertarsuaq island, better known as Disko Island, or the smaller Qeqertarsuaq (Herbert Island) island near Qaanaaq (Thule). Kiatak
Kiatak or Northumberland Island ( da, Northumberland Ø), also known as ''Kujata'', is an island off the coast of northern Greenland. Geography This relatively large island is part of a small group formed by Kiatak, Herbert Island and Hakluyt Island. The latter is the smallest of the group and lies off Kiatak's western shore. The islands lie off the Inglefield Fjord, between the Murchison Sound to the north and the Hvalsund to the south. Important Bird Area The island has been designated an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International because it supports a breeding population of some 2.5 million pairs of little auks, as well as other seabird species. Egger Island
Egger Island ( da, Eggers Ø; kl, Itilleq, old spelling: ''Itivdleq'') is Greenland's southernmost island. It is located in the Kujalleq municipality and is uninhabited. Geography Egger Island is an important landmark for a small islet off Cape Farewell, its southern headland, is the southernmost point of Greenland. It is part of the Cape Farewell Archipelago (Nunap Isua). The island has a deeply indented coastline and is separated from the neighbouring islands of the archipelago by narrow sounds. Qunnerit lies to the west, Sammisoq to the north and the smaller Avatdlerssuaq and Saningassoq to the east. Egger Island has an area of 308.8 km2 and a shoreline of 150.2 kilometres. Sverdrup Island (Greenland)
Sverdrup Island ( da, Sverdrup Ø) is an uninhabited island in the far north of Greenland, in the Northeast Greenland National Park area. It is named after Otto Sverdrup. Geography Sverdrup Island is located west of Nansen Land, to the north of Freuchen Land off the mouth of J.P. Koch Fjord in the Lincoln Sea, and to the east of Elison Island and John Murray Island. The island has an area of 436 km ² and a shoreline of 130 kilometres. Chipp Sound in the west separates Sverdrup Island from smaller Elison Island and Mascart Sound in the east separates it from Nansen Land.
