List Of Intercommunalities Of The Allier Department
The department of Allier has, since 1 January 2017, had eleven public establishments for intercommunal cooperation (EPCI) with their own tax system: three ''communautés d'agglomération'' and eight ''communautés de communes''. Until 2016, the department had twenty-one intercommunal structures (three ''communautés d'agglomération'' and eighteen ''communautés de communes''). The 320 communes (318 in 2016 and 317 since 2017) of the department are part of a ''communautés d'agglomération/de communes'' of Allier or one of its neighbouring departments. Commentry
Commentry (; Auvergnat: ''Comentriac'') is a commune in the department of Allier in central France. It lies southwest of Moulins in the valley of the Œil. It is within 8 km of one of the geographic centres of France. The film actress Yvonne Rozille (1900–1985) was born in Commentry. Population History Commentry was home to Compagnie de Commentry-Fourchambault-Decazeville, thanks to an important coal deposit. The coal mine fueled a huge growth in population, from under 1,000 to more than 12,000, while Stéphane Mony was its CEO (1840–1884). Commentry was the first commune ever to elect a socialist mayor: Christophe Thivrier was elected 6 June 1882. The Socialist Party of France was founded in Commentry in September 1902. Economy Commentry gave its name to a coal field over 21 square kilometres in extent, and historically had important foundries and forges. Cérilly, Allier
Cérilly () is a commune in the Allier department in central France. It is in close proximity to the largest and oldest untouched oak forest in western Europe: the Forest of Tronçais. Many oak trees exceed 250 years in age. The Troncais (pronounced: Tronssay) forest was first planted during the 13th century and used continuously since the late 17th century and until the early 19th century to supply masts and spars to the old French navy. It is now a state forest which supplies much of the choice oak used in making the best wine barrels that are used mostly in Burgundy. Bourbon-l'Archambault
Bourbon-l'Archambault is a spa town and a commune in the Allier department in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in central France. It is the place of origin of the House of Bourbon. Population Personalities In 1681, Louise Marie Anne de Bourbon, ''Mademoiselle de Tours'' - the third daughter of Louis XIV and his mistress Françoise-Athénaise, Madame de Montespan - died there at the age of six.
