This list of historical municipalities in Camden County, New Jersey includes City (New Jersey), cities, Township (New Jersey), townships, and Borough (New Jersey), boroughs. It also includes the years they were formed as local administrative units, and years in which existing municipalities ceded land for the formation of new ones. Some municipalities listed have either been subsumed into other municipalities, or have changed their names. Camden County was formed in 1844 from part of Gloucester County, containing the City of Camden along with Delaware, Gloucester, Newton, Union, Waterford, and Washington Townships. Monroe Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey
Monroe Township is a Township (New Jersey), township in Gloucester County, New Jersey, Gloucester County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 37,117, an increase of 988 (+2.7%) from the 2010 United States census, 2010 census count of 36,129, in turn reflecting an increase of 7,162 (+24.7%) from the 28,967 counted in the 2000 United States census, 2000 census. The township is part of the South Jersey region of the state. Monroe Township was originally formed as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 3, 1859, from portions of Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, Washington Township while the area was still part of Camden County, New Jersey, Camden County. Audubon Borough
The National Audubon Society (Audubon; ) is an American non-profit environmental organization dedicated to conservation of birds and their habitats. Located in the United States and incorporated in 1905, Audubon is one of the oldest of such organizations in the world. There are completely independent Audubon Societies in the United States, which were founded several years earlier such as the Massachusetts Audubon Society and Connecticut Audubon Society. The society has nearly 500 local chapters, each of which is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization voluntarily affiliated with the National Audubon Society. They often organize birdwatching field trips and conservation-related activities. Winslow Township, New Jersey
Winslow Township is a township in Camden County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 U.S. census, the township's population was 39,499, reflecting an increase of 4,888 (+14.1%) from the 34,611 counted in the 2000 census. Winslow Township was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 8, 1845, from portions of Gloucester Township. Portions of the township were taken on November 26, 1867, to create Chesilhurst. Waterford Township, New Jersey
Waterford Township is a township in Camden County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 10,649. reflecting an increase of 155 (+1.5%) from the 10,494 counted in the 2000 census. Waterford Township was originally created by Royal charter on June 1, 1695, while the area was still part of Gloucester County. The township was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798. On March 13, 1844, Waterford Township became one of the original townships in the newly created Camden County. The settlement of Long-a-Coming (today's borough of Berlin) along the White Horse Pike (US 30) in Waterford was the new county's first seat, but lost that designation in 1848 when the seat moved to the city of Camden. Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey
Washington Township is a township in Gloucester County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 U.S. census, the township's population was 48,677, an increase of 118 from the 2010 census count of 48,559, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,445 (+3.1%) from the 47,114 counted in the 2000 census. For 2021, the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated a population of 49,391. Washington Township was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 17, 1836, from portions of Deptford Township. Union Township is a now dissolved township which existed from 1831 to 1868 and was located in present-day Camden County, New Jersey.
