Fifth Republic Movement
The Fifth Republic Movement (Spanish: ''Movimiento V uintaRepública'', MVR) was a socialist political party in Venezuela. It was founded in July 1997, following a national congress of the Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200, to support the candidacy of Hugo Chávez, the former President of Venezuela, in the 1998 presidential election. The "Fifth Republic" refers to the fact that in 1997 the Republic of Venezuela was the fourth in Venezuelan history, and the Movement aimed to re-found the Republic through a constituent assembly. Following Chávez' 1998 election victory, this took place in 1999, leading to the 1999 Constitution of Venezuela. List of governors of states of Venezuela. Governors in Venezuela are in charge of the government and administration of each State. A Governor must be a Venezuelan over the age of 25 who is not a member of the clergy. The Governor can be elected for a term of four years by a majority vote. The Governor can be re-elected to an additional term only immediately and only once. Governors give a yearly public accounting to the State Comptroller for their office, and submit a report on the same to the Legislative Council and the Public Policy Planning and Coordination Council. Ramón Alonso Carrizales Rengifo (born 8 November 1952) is a Venezuelan politician who was the vice president of Venezuela from January 2008 to January 2010. Carrizales was a Colonel of the Venezuelan Armed Forces (retired in 1994) and was educated at the Venezuelan Academy of Military Sciences, where he graduated in 1974. He was appointed vice president by President Hugo Chávez in January 2008 after previously serving as chair of the ''Fondo Nacional de Transporte Urbano (Fontur)'' from 2000 to 2004, Infrastructure Minister 2004 to 2006, and Housing Minister from 2007 to 2008.
