Jean Seberg
Jean Dorothy Seberg (; ; November 13, 1938August 30, 1979) was an American actress who lived half of her life in France. Her performance in Jean-Luc Godard's 1960 film ''Breathless'' immortalized her as an icon of French New Wave cinema. Seberg appeared in 34 films in Hollywood and in Europe, including '' Saint Joan'', '' Bonjour Tristesse'', ''Lilith'', ''The Mouse That Roared'', '' Breathless'', '' Moment to Moment'', ''A Fine Madness'', '' Paint Your Wagon'', ''Airport'', '' Macho Callahan'', and ''Gang War in Naples''. Seberg was among the best-known targets of the FBI's COINTELPRO project. Her targeting was in retaliation for her support of the Black Panther Party, a smear directly ordered by J. Edgar Hoover. Seberg died at the age of 40 in Paris, with police ruling her death a probable suicide. Pierre Brasseur
Pierre Brasseur (22 December 1905 – 16 August 1972), born Pierre-Albert Espinasse, was a French actor. Biography The son of actors Georges Espinasse and Germaine Brasseur, the latter a cousin of Albert Brasseur; his grandfather, Jules Brasseur, was an actor as well. The family tradition of using the name ''Brasseur'' was continued by his son Claude and his grandson Alexandre. Renowned for playing outsized characters, Brasseur is best remembered for his (semi-fictionalised) portrayal of the actor Frédérick Lemaître in ''Les Enfants du Paradis'' (''Children of Paradise'', 1945) and as Docteur Génessier (more subdued) in the horror film '' Les Yeux sans visage'' (''Eyes Without a Face'', 1960) co-starring Alida Valli. Eyes Without A Face (film)
''Eyes Without a Face'' (french: Les yeux sans visage) is a 1960 French-language horror film co-written and directed by Georges Franju. A French-Italian co-production, the film stars Pierre Brasseur and Alida Valli. Based on the novel of the same name by Jean Redon, it revolves around a plastic surgeon who is determined to perform a face transplant on his daughter, who was disfigured in a car accident. During the film's production, consideration was given to the standards of European censors by setting the right tone, minimizing gore and eliminating the mad scientist character. Although ''Eyes Without a Face'' was cleared by censors, its release in Europe caused controversy nevertheless. Critical reaction ranged from praise to disgust. In the United States, an edited and dubbed version of the film, titled ''The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus'', was released in 1962 as a double feature with ''The Manster''. Serge Reggiani
Serge Reggiani (2 May 1922 – 23 July 2004) was an Italian-French actor and singer. He was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy and moved to France with his parents at the age of eight. After studying acting at the Conservatoire des arts cinématographiques, he was discovered by Jean Cocteau and appeared in the wartime production of ''Les Parents terribles''. He then left Paris to join the French Resistance. His first feature film was ''Les portes de la nuit'' ("Gates of the Night"), released in 1946. He went on to perform in 80 films in total, including ''Casque d'or'', ''Les Misérables'' (1958),'' Tutti a casa'', '' Le Doulos'', ''Il Gattopardo'', '' La terrazza'', '' The Pianist'' (1998). Martin Henry Balsam (November 4, 1919 – February 13, 1996) was an American actor. He had a prolific career in character roles in film, in theatre, and on television. An early member of the Actors Studio, he began his career on the New York stage, winning a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for Robert Anderson’s ''You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running'' (1968). Alberto Sordi
Alberto Sordi (15 June 1920 – 24 February 2003) was an Italian actor, voice actor, singer, comedian, director and screenwriter. Early life Born in Rome to a schoolteacher and a musician and the last of five children, Sordi was named in honour of an older sibling, who died several days after his birth. Sordi enrolled in Milan's dramatic arts academy but was kicked out because of his thick Roman accent. In the meantime, he studied to be a bass opera singer. His vocal distinctiveness would become his trademark. Sandra Milo (born Salvatrice Elena Greco; 11 March 1933 in Tunis) is an Italian actress, television personality, author, and musician. She won a Silver Ribbon best supporting actress award for each of her roles in Federico Fellini's ''8½'' and ''Juliet of the Spirits''. Career She made her film debut in 1955 alongside Alberto Sordi in '' The Bachelor''. Angiolino Giuseppe Pasquale Ventura (14 July 1919 – 22 October 1987), known as Lino Ventura, was an Italian actor who grew up in France and starred in many French films. Born in Italy, he was raised in Paris by his mother. Bourvil
André Robert Raimbourg (; 27 July 1917 – 23 September 1970), better known as André Bourvil (), and mononymously as Bourvil, was a French actor and singer best known for his roles in comedy films, most notably in his collaboration with Louis de Funès in the films '' Le Corniaud'' (1965) and ''La Grande Vadrouille'' (1966). For his performance in ''Le Corniaud'', he won a Special Diploma at the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. Biography His father was killed in the First World War before Bourvil was born. As a result, he spent his entire childhood in the village of Bourville, from which he took his stage name. He married Jeanne Lefrique on 23 January 1943.
