Horror is a film genre that seeks to elicit fear or disgust in its audience for entertainment purposes. Horror films often explore dark subject matter and may deal with transgressive topics or themes. Broad elements include monsters, apocalyptic events, and religious or folk beliefs. Cinematic techniques used in horror films have been shown to provoke psychological reactions in an audience. Horror films have existed for more than a century. Early inspirations from before the development of film include folklore, religious beliefs and superstitions of different cultures, and the Gothic and horror literature of authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and Mary Shelley. William Franklin Walker (July 1, 1896 – January 27, 1992) was an American television and film actor. Walker is best remembered for his role as Reverend Sykes in the 1962 film ''To Kill a Mockingbird''. Career Born in Pendleton, Indiana, Walker began his acting career in 1946. Claudette Nevins
Claudette Nevins (née Weintraub; April 10, 1937 – February 20, 2020) was an American stage, film and television actress. Biography Claudette Nevins was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She was a daughter of merchant Joseph Weintraub and garment worker Anna Lander, both of whom emigrated from small towns in Austria to America. Nevins was a graduate of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia School of Performing Arts and a 1957 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of New York University, with a degree in English. Nevins debuted on Broadway in ''The Wall'' (1960) with other Broadway appearances including ''Plaza Suite'' (1968) and ''Danton's Death'' (1965). She also appeared in ''In White America'' (off-Broadway) with Gloria Foster and Moses Gunn. Paul Stevens (January 17, 1921 – June 4, 1986) was an American film and television actor. Stevens played Colonel Charles R. Codman in the 1970 film ''Patton''. He also appeared in ''Exodus'', as a key congressional witness in ''Advise and Consent'' and in ''Marlowe''. Stevens's television debut occurred on ''Playhouse 90''. He portrayed Paul on the serial '' The Nurses''. He appeared on the serial ''The Young and the Restless'' in 1975 (as Bruce Henderson) and on the soap opera '' Another World'' from 1977 to 1985 (as Brian Bancroft). ''The Mask'' (re-released as ''Eyes of Hell'') is a 1961 Canadian surrealist horror film produced in 3-D by Warner Bros. It was directed by Julian Roffman, and stars Paul Stevens, Claudette Nevins, and Bill Walker. Plot The story concerns a psychiatrist, Dr. Allen Barnes (Stevens), who obtains a mysterious ancient tribal mask after one of his patients (Radin) committed suicide. Whenever he puts on the mask, Barnes experiences dream-like visions which become increasingly disturbing and violent and even physically harming his girlfriend Pam (Nevins). The visions begin to alter Barnes' personality, and eventually drive him insane while Lt. Martin (Walker) questions those who knew him and the whereabouts of said mask.
