A list of films produced in Finland ordered by year of release. For an alphabetical list of Finnish films see :Finnish films The numbers in the Notes column refer to the numbering used by Suomen kansallisfilmografia. These numbers are given to all full-length films which have been shown in public theaters as a headlining or co-headlining film. Suomen kansallisfilmografia uses the minimum length of 37 minutes to qualify for a film to be listed, however the earliest films may be shorter than this (as 37 minutes was not even technically possible). Finland ( fi, Suomi ; sv, Finland ), officially the Republic of Finland (; ), is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It shares land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland across Estonia to the south. Romantic comedy (also known as romcom or rom-com) is a subgenre of comedy and slice of life fiction, focusing on lighthearted, humorous plot lines centered on romantic ideas, such as how true love is able to surmount most obstacles. The IV District, also known as Martti ( Finnish; ''Martinsbacken'' in Swedish), is one of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between ''Tervahovinkatu'' in the west and ''Betaniankatu'' and ''Martinkatu'' in the east. Väinö Lehmus
Väinö Lehmus (11 January 1886 – 6 April 1936) was a Finnish stage and film and radio actor of the early 20th century. Career Born Väinö Armas Lind, his father was a tailor. He initially attended trade school before studying for a business career. He began his acting career at the Tampere Theatre in 1906 and from 1915 to 1917 toured Finland performing in comedic operettas, often in the company of actor Iivari Kainulainen. Lehmus also served as the director for many working class theaters and was the theater director for the Vyborg Worker's Theatre from 1927 to 1928. He was also the property manager and stage director for Harjula Oy, a children's educational facility in Lohja. In addition to a long career on the Finnish stages, Väinö Lehmus performed in approximately seven early Finnish silent films; the first two of which, 1920's ''Kilu-Kallen ja Mouku-Franssin kosioretki'' and 1921's ''Kun solttu-Juusosta tuli herra'', he also was the screenwriter. Erkki Karu (born Erland Fredrik Kumlander) (10 April 1887 Helsinki – 8 December 1935 Helsinki) was a Finnish film director, screenwriter and producer. He was one of the pioneers of the Finnish cinema. Career Karu started his career as a member of a theater troupe in 1907. He became interested in cinema during the 1910s and was reportedly interested in starting his own film company as early as 1915.Uusitalo 1994, p. 22 Karu dabbled in filmmaking, and directed, wrote, edited and produced the comedy short films ''Ylioppilas Pöllövaaran kihlaus'' and ''Sotagulashi Kaiun häiritty kesäloma'' for Suomen Biografi Oy, both of which were released in 1920. Karu founded the film production company Suomi-Filmi in 1919, which by the end of the 1920s had grown into the largest company in its field in Finland.
