Downtempo
Downtempo (or downbeat) is a broad label for electronic music that features an atmospheric sound and slower beats than would typically be found in dance music. Closely related to ambient music but with greater emphasis on rhythm, the style may be played in chillout clubs or as "warm-up or cool-down" music during a DJ set. Examples of downtempo subgenres include trip hop, ambient house, chillwave, psybient and lo-fi hip hop. The style emerged in the late 1980s with the UK's Bristol scene that birthed artists like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Tricky. In the 1990s, the style was heard internationally in artists such as Kruder & Dorfmeister, Fila Brazillia, and Thievery Corporation. Other prominent artists to emerge in the style include Boards of Canada, Nicolas Jaar, and Bonobo. Bowery Electric
Bowery Electric was an American post-rock band, formed by Lawrence Chandler and Martha Schwendener in 1993. History Formed by Lawrence Chandler and Martha Schwendener in late 1993, Bowery Electric played their first show in New York City in January 1994. The band's debut double 7-inch single was recorded by Kramer (musician), Kramer and released by Hi-Fidelity Recordings in 1994. After listening to it, Kranky (record label), Kranky contacted the band. The band's first album, ''Bowery Electric'', was recorded by Michael Deming at Studio .45 in Hartford, Connecticut and released by Kranky in 1995. The album was included by Andrew Earles in his 2014 book, ''Gimme Indie Rock: 500 Essential American Underground Rock Albums 1981–1996''. Daedelus (musician)
Alfred Darlington (born Alfred Weisberg-Roberts, October 31, 1977), better known by their stage name Daedelus, is an American record producer based in Los Angeles, California. They are a part of the groups The Long Lost and Adventure Time. They are affiliated with the internet radio station Dublab. Early life Daedelus attended the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music studying Jazz on Double Bass. Career A teenage obsession with Greek mythology led them to adopt the stage name Daedelus—a tribute to the artist, inventor, and craftsman (spelled Daedalus). In 1999 they began DJing Dublab.com's ''Entropy Sessions'' and releasing their own early demo productions. Craig Armstrong (composer)
Craig Armstrong, (born 29 April 1959) is a Scottish composer of modern orchestral music, electronica and film scores. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1981, and has since written music for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. Armstrong's score for Baz Luhrmann's ''Romeo + Juliet'' earned him a BAFTA for Achievement in Film Music and an Ivor Novello. He would collaborate with Luhrmann again on his next two films, ''Moulin Rouge!'' and ''The Great Gatsby (2013 film), The Great Gatsby''. His score for the former earned him the 2001 American Film Institute's composer of the Year award, a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and a BAFTA. Continuum (music Project)
Continuum is a collaborative ambient and drone music project between Bass Communion (Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree) and Dirk Serries (of Vidna Obmana and Fear Falls Burning). The project looks to expand on the artists' "collective ambition and vision, motivated by their immense passion for a wide-range of musical styles, ranging from spacious ambience to pounding doom metal." Discography The first volume in the collaboration between Bass Communion and Vidna Obmana was originally limited to 25 Promotional recording, promotional copies. However, the promotional copies sold quickly, leading to the pressing of a 1,000 copy official release. The album is packaged in a book sized digipack designed by Lasse Hoile. The difference between promotional copies and the official release is a small black line through the bar code. A second edition of 1,000 copies was released in July 2008.

Colder (musician)
Marc Nguyen Tan (born 1974), known professionally as Colder, is a French dance musician and graphic designer who is also a DJ and remixer who remains actively involved in dance music and other projects. Colder's sound is rooted in the post-punk and post-disco of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Colder is also influenced by dub and krautrock. Biography After studying film at university, Tan started to work as junior art director in 1995 for Grolier Interactive, then became art director at the Shaman design studio. He worked as art director for TV on-air design, then directed promos and title sequences as a freelancer for Eurosport cable channel. He co-founded "Le Cabinet. Paris." with Benoit Emery in May 2000. Clutchy Hopkins
Clutchy Hopkins is purportedly a multi-instrumentalist musician based out of California. His existence has not yet been fully verified, though he is widely believed to be a pseudonym for one of several popular DJs. The true identity of the person (or people) behind the music is not publicly known. Recent history On September 9, 2006, a YouTube video claiming to be documentary footage about Clutchy Hopkins was uploaded. The video's end credits contain the URL www.misledchildren.com. Originally, this website featured a 12-track album titled " The Life of Clutchy Hopkins", plus a white-label store that sold the album, a brief description, and contact information for a seemingly random Hotmail address. The YouTube video's credits also mention a Myspace page which features grainy photos of a ragged-looking bearded man wearing a flannel shirt. Clara Hill is a musician born in Berlin. She writes, produces and performs with a varied array of artists. Her discography includes 6 full-length albums (Sonar Kollektiv Berlin, Tapete Records, King Britt Archives), and many 12“s featuring names of electronica artists like Jazzanova, King Britt, Marc Mac (4 Hero), Atjazz, Vikter Duplaix and Dixon. Chinese Man
Chinese Man is a French trip hop band formed in 2004 and originally from Aix-en-Provence. History They are influenced by hip-hop, funk, dub, reggae and jazz. Chinese Man is composed of DJ Marseille Zé Mateo and High Ku and beatmaker SLY. Beatmakers Leo le Bug and Le Yan also revolve around the group and participate in the composition of several pieces. Nicholas James Murphy (born 23 June 1988), known professionally as Chet Faker, is an Australian singer and songwriter. Catching Flies (musician)
Catching Flies (born 1991) is an English musician, DJ and record producer from London, England. His sound has been described as sitting on the "smooth, mellow side of electronic music" somewhere "between Flying Lotus and Bonobo" and "contains shades of everything from hip hop to house, from soul to jazz." He has self-released three EPs and numerous remixes for artists like Kwabs and Wilkinson. Releases Catching Flies first came to prominence in October 2012, when his remix of Mt. Wolf's track "Life Size Ghosts" began to get hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube and he got praise from scores of music blogs. Consequently, the track raced to the number one spot on the Hype Machine. This was followed by the release of his first EP, ''The Stars'', which included 3 tracks of original music, plus the Mt.
