Daedelus (musician)
Alfred Darlington (born Alfred Weisberg-Roberts, October 31, 1977), better known by their stage name Daedelus, is an American record producer based in Los Angeles, California. They are a part of the groups The Long Lost and Adventure Time. They are affiliated with the internet radio station Dublab. Early life Daedelus attended the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music studying Jazz on Double Bass. Career A teenage obsession with Greek mythology led them to adopt the stage name Daedelus—a tribute to the artist, inventor, and craftsman (spelled Daedalus). In 1999 they began DJing Dublab.com's ''Entropy Sessions'' and releasing their own early demo productions. This got the attention of Carlos Niño (of Ammoncontact), who featured Daedelus tracks on two compilations. Subsequently, Daedelus released a studio album, ''Invention'', on Plug Research in 2002. ''Consequence'' (previously ''Consequence of Sound'') is an independently owned New York-based online magazine featuring news, editorials, and reviews of music, movies, and television. In addition, the website also features the Festival Outlook micro-site, which serves as an online database for music festival news and rumors. The Long Lost
The Long Lost is a collaboration between American musicians Daedelus and Laura Darlington. The pair are also husband and wife. They dated in high school after initially meeting as members of their high school orchestra, as well as partners in the ballroom dance club. After a few years apart, they re-met and gradually formed this project. In 2009, the duo released the first studio album, ''The Long Lost'', on Ninja Tune. Daedelus has stated that they are currently working on new material. ''The Weather'' is a collaborative studio album by Busdriver & Radioinactive with Daedelus. It was released on Mush Records on February 18, 2003. Daedelus released a reworking instrumental version of the album, titled ''Rethinking the Weather'', on Mush Records on June 10, 2003. Critical reception Julianne Shepherd of ''Pitchfork'' praised the album, writing, "''The Weather'' is smart but not pretentious, skeptical but not misanthropic, and it proves avant-hiphop doesn't have to be avant-crappy." Daedalus
In Greek mythology, Daedalus (, ; Greek: Δαίδαλος; Latin: ''Daedalus''; Etruscan: ''Taitale'') was a skillful architect and craftsman, seen as a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and power. He is the father of Icarus, the uncle of Perdix, and possibly also the father of Iapyx. ''Stylus Magazine'' was an American online music and film magazine, launched in 2002 and co-founded by Todd L. Burns. It featured long-form music journalism, four daily music reviews, movie reviews, podcasts, an MP3 blog, and a text blog. Dublab
dublab is a non-profit music public broadcasting internet radio station based in Los Angeles. They have also been involved with art exhibition, film projects, event production, and record releases. These Shows are archived and downloadable on the dublab website. dublab also broadcasts on KLDB-LP on 99.1 FM in Los Angeles. Their name is a portmanteau of dubbing and laboratory for the combined meaning: a place of experimenting with sampling music. Examples of this, besides their stream, is their film production ''Secondhand Sureshots'' where they gave producers, such as Daedelus, five dollars to buy albums from thrift stores and sampling the music to create new tracks.
