Greenwood is a suburban town in southern Caddo Parish, which is located in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Louisiana. With a population of 3,166 at the 2020 United States census, it is the third most populous incorporated municipality in Caddo Parish after Shreveport and Blanchard. Part of the Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan statistical area, it is located 15 miles west of downtown Shreveport. Gilliam is a village in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 164 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. History On May 13, 1908, a tornado struck the community around dinnertime, killing 34 people and devastating the town, leaving only two homes standing. Eros, Louisiana
Eros is a town in Jackson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 155 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ruston Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The Tremont Lumber company founded Eros, in the early 20th century. Mrs. Mary Collins, née Nash (wife of Samuel Collins) suggested that the sawmill boomtown be named after the 433 Eros Asteroid (discovered in 1898). Eros served as a center point for a number of small surrounding communities, such as Hog Hair, Jumping Vernon, Indian Village, Salem Guyton, Flat Creek, Head Settlement, Vernon, Fuller Town, and Bug Tussle.
