Doha Port
Doha Port ( ar, ميناء الدوحة, Mīnā’ ad Dawḩah) is a census-designated port district in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Doha Port is centrally located in Doha, and is adjacent to some of the country's most popular tourist destinations such as Doha Corniche and Souq Waqif. Milaha Port Services gained control of the port in February 2011. Until the inauguration of Hamad Port in December 2016, Doha Port was the country's sole commercial port, capable of processing most types of cargo. Immediately after Hamad Port was commissioned in December 2016 near Al Wakrah, Doha Port suspended all commercial operations. Doha International Airport
Doha International Airport ( ar, مطار الدوحة الدولي) is an airport in Doha, Qatar. It was Qatar's commercial international airport until Hamad International Airport opened on 27 May 2014. While all scheduled commercial traffic ceased, the airport site and existing runway is still used by Qatar Emiri Air Force, Qatar Amiri Flight, Rizon Jet, Gulf Helicopters and Qatar Aeronautical College. It also acts as a state/diplomatic airport catering to both Qatar Amiri Flight (which is based at the airport) and state visit flights. The airport welcomed commercial flights again on 15 September 2022 for selected airlines to handle increased traffic for the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in the country in November. Dahl Al Hamam
Dahl Al Hamam ( ar, دحل الحمام, Daḩl al Ḩammām) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. Together with Madinat Khalifa North, which it is adjacent to in the south-west, it makes up Zone 32 which has a population of 12,364. Etymology In Arabic, ''dahl'' translates to "cavern A cave or cavern is a natural void in the ground, specifically a space large enough for a human to enter. Al Bidda
Al Bidda ( ar, البدع) is a neighborhood of Doha, Qatar. It was previously the largest town in Qatar in the 19th century, before Doha, an offshoot of Al Bidda, grew in prominence. Al Bidda was incorporated as a district in the Doha municipality in the late 20th century. Qatar's Amiri Diwan (Presidential Office) has been based in Al Bidda since 1915, after being converted from an abandoned Ottoman fort. Etymology ''Bidda'' is derived from the Arabic word ''badaa'', meaning "to invent". When the previously uninhabited area first became populated, a settlement was essentially invented, giving it its name. Bu Sidra
Bu Sidra ( ar, بوسدرة; also spelled Abu Sidra) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipalities of Qatar, municipality of Al Rayyan. In the 2015 census, it was listed as a district of Zones of Qatar, zone no. 55 which has a population of 283,675 and also includes New Fereej Al Ghanim, Al Aziziya, Al Waab, Fereej Al Soudan, Muaither, Al Mearad, Fereej Al Manaseer, Fereej Al Murra and Al Sailiya. Fereej Al Manaseer is located to the immediate east. Etymology The first part of the district's name, "abu", translates to "father" and is used as a prefix for geographical features. "Sidra" is a reference to the sidr tree (''Ziziphus nummularia'') which grows abundantly in the area. Umm Salal
Umm Salal (; also spelled Umm Slal) is a municipality in the State of Qatar. It contains several historic places, such as Barzan Tower. The municipal headquarters Umm Salal is located in Umm Salal Ali, about 10 km from the coast and 15 km north of Doha, the Qatari capital. Etymology The first word of Umm Salal is Arabic for "mother", while ''salal'' refers to large rocks or stones. Hence, the area's name translates literally to "mother of rocks". It was named for the numerous rock formations found in the area. History As a municipality, Umm Salal was established in 1972, alongside Qatar's 4 other initial municipalities. Bu Fasseela ( ar, بوفسيلة, Bū Fasīlah) is a village in the municipality of Umm Salal Umm Salal (; also spelled Umm Slal) is a municipality in the State of Qatar.
