Niagara Falls is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is on the western bank of the Niagara River in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario, with a population of 88,071 at the 2016 census. Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory
The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is a butterfly house operated by the Niagara Parks Commission in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It is located approximately north of Niagara Falls on the grounds of the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture, which is in size. The conservatory was opened in December 1996 with a gift shop, 200-seat theater/auditorium room, and a climate-controlled greenhouse. The conservatory has over 2,000 tropical butterflies from over 45 different species. The conservatory glass dome is in size with of paths inside the greenhouse portion, which has a wide variety of foliage. The conservatory can accommodate up to 300 visitors per hour. Since captive butterflies usually have a life span of 2–4 weeks, the conservatory imports up to 3,000 butterflies per month from world butterfly farms in Costa Rica, El Salvador, the Philippines, and Australia. Deer Lake, Newfoundland And Labrador
Deer Lake is a town in the western part of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The town derives its name from Deer Lake and is situated at the outlet of the upper Humber River at the northeastern end of the lake. History The first settlers in the area arrived from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia in 1864. Originally loggers and trappers, the settlers later took up farming. In 1922, a work camp was set up to support the International Pulp and Paper company. The camp would later become the town of Deer Lake. A formal townsite was constructed in 1925 and included a railway terminal, churches and a small hospital. The town was incorporated in 1950 with Phil Hodder as its first mayor. Newfoundland Insectarium
The Newfoundland Insectarium is a museum insectarium located in Reidville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The main display features a wide variety of mounted insects from around the world, organized by geographical region. One exhibit covers the insects of Newfoundland and Labrador. Live arthropods are dispersed around the mounted displays, including tarantulas, scorpions, and cockroaches. The museum also includes a glass beehive with live honeybees, a leafcutter ant colony, a recently extended butterfly house and a walking trail. The Newfoundland Insectarium was founded by Lloyd Hollett and Gary Holloway and opened in 1998. Lloyd Hollett is now the primary owner and director. Hollett and his wife now run the Insectarium along with seasonal student employees from May to October yearly. The Montreal Insectarium (french: link=no, Insectarium de Montréal) is a natural history museum located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, featuring a large quantity of insects from all around the world. It is the largest insect museum in North America and among the largest insectariums worldwide. It was founded by Georges Brossard and opened on February 7, 1990. Its average attendance is 400,000 visitors per year. It displays both live and dead insect collections, from butterflies to bees and ants.
