Finland ( fi, Suomi ; sv, Finland ), officially the Republic of Finland (; ), is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It shares land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east, with the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland across Estonia to the south. Amberian Dawn is a Finnish symphonic power metal band, formed in 2006 by Tuomas Seppälä and Tommi Kuri. Their fifth album '' Re-Evolution'' (a re-recorded compilation with a new singer) was released on KHY Suomen Musiikki & Encore Music in summer 2013. Their latest album ''Looking for You'' was released in January 2020, via Napalm Records. History Atheme One (2006–2008) Several of the members that would later form Amberian Dawn previously played in the group Virtuocity, and after Virtuocity's breakup, they formed a new band, based on keyboardist and guitarist Tuomas Seppälä's songwriting. The band was named Atheme One and had Peter James Goodman as their lead singer and lyricist. Arthemesia
Arthemesia was a Finnish black metal band active between 1994 and 2010. The band derives their name from ''Artemisia absinthium'', Latin for wormwood, thought to have many spiritual qualities. Their music mainly concerns a projection of the band's philosophy, namely glorification of the occult and Satanism, but also nature and Shamanism. Arion (band)
Arion is a Finnish metal band formed in 2011 and led by guitarist Iivo Kaipainen. Arion gained fame after performing their first song "Lost" in Uuden Musikiin Kilpailu 2013, the Finnish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. Archgoat
Archgoat is a Finnish black metal band formed in 1989 by twin brothers Ritual Butcherer on guitar and Lord Angelslayer on bass and vocals. It was one of Finland's first black metal bands along with Barathrum, Impaled Nazarene and Beherit. The members of Archgoat openly identify with the philosophy of Satanism and the occult as expressed in their lyrical content, which also consists of anti-Christian themes. Apulanta
Apulanta is a Finnish rock band, founded in 1991 when its members were in their mid-teens. In September 2009, Apulanta members established an independent label, Päijät-Hämeen Sorto ja Riisto ("Päijänne Tavastian Oppression and Exploitation"). Since its beginnings, the label has so far gotten one artist, pop singer Kaija Koo in the summer of 2010. In February 2011, they revealed that they had a new prospective artist in the label, though not disclosing their name. Appendix (band)
Appendix is a Finnish punk rock band. It was founded in 1980 and has released five studio albums. Their debut album was released in 1983. It was later re-issued by the German label Rock-O-Rama with an English title ''Money Is Not My Currency''. Olli Lindholm, the lead singer of one of Finland's highest selling rock groups Yö, is a former member of Appendix. In the spring 2015 Appendix had a West Coast Tour in United States and they performed at Manic Relapse festivals as the lead performer in Oakland, California. Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso, and jazz drummer Mikko Sirén. Originally a classical-style Metallica tribute band, the band eventually adopted a neoclassical metal style without the use of conventional guitars and bass. They have sold over four million albums to date. Anzi Destruction
Anzi Destruction (born Antero Koskikallio; 1982) is a Finnish rock musician. He is known for his energic and wild live shows that feature fire breathing. He was the lead singer of Stereo Junks! (2003–2010). Prior to joining Stereo Junks!, he played guitar in the glam/punk band Plastic Tears in the late 1990s. In 2001, he released two solo EPs ''Shoot I'' and ''Shoot II''. In 2010, he joined The Salvation as its lead singer. His first full-length solo album, '' High Clash Motherf***er'', was released in April 2011. Angelit
Angelit, formerly known as Angelin tytöt (''Aŋŋel nieiddat''), is a Finnish Sámi folk music group formed by sisters Ursula and Tuuni Länsman in 1989. However, the history of the group can be traced back to 1982 when Eino Ukkonen, Ursula and Tuuni Länsman's Finnish teacher, took them along with some classmates to sing at a Sámi festival held at Utsjoki. In 1987 the group released their first non-commercial tape, recorded together with Mari Boine. In 1989 one of the members of the group was killed in a car accident, and subsequently the group broke up. Together with Ulla Pirttijärvi, Ursula and Tuuni went on and established a group that was called "Angelin tytöt" or "girls of Angeli", named after Angeli, the village they grew up in, located in Inari in Northern Finland. Angel Of Sodom
Angel of Sodom is a thrash metal band that originated out of Helsinki, Finland. The band was created in 2009, founded by Eero Tertsunen, who also performs in Renascent, and Michael Majalahti. The band has released one studio album in 2015 and an EP in 2016. In 2016, the band went on a hiatus, due to Tertsunen moving to Bloomington, Indiana in the United States. History The project was created by Eero Tertsunen on guitars and Michael Majalahti on vocals. Majalahti and Tertsunen began writing new music and over the course of several years, eventually wrote and recorded a full-length album, which was titled ''Divine Retribution'', which was very well received.
