Blur (band), Blur are an English rock band formed of singer–keyboardist Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James (musician), Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. The band are best known for popularising the Britpop movement. However, their later material was more influenced by Indie Rock, Electronic music, Electronic and Hip Hop music, Hip Hop music. After a hiatus, the band reformed in 2009. ''Leisure'' is the debut studio album by the English rock band Blur, released in August 1991 by record label Food. Content The original version of "Sing", entitled "Sing (To Me)", was recorded as a demo in late 1989 under the band's former name, Seymour, and can be heard on the ultra-rare promo-only single which was released over a decade later in February 2000 and on the first of a 4-disc set with rare material in the ''Blur 21'' box set. The cover photograph was taken in May 1954 by Charles Hewitt, for a Picture Post fashion feature on bathing hats, "Glamour in the Swim". Release The album was released on 26 August 1991 in the United Kingdom by record label Food. The Universal
"The Universal" is a song by English alternative rock band Blur and is featured on their fourth studio album, '' The Great Escape'' (1995). It was released on 13 November 1995 as the second single from that album, charting at number five on the UK Singles Chart and number 12 in both Iceland and Ireland. In keeping with the song's science fiction theme, the single's cover art is an allusion to the opening shot of '' 2001: A Space Odyssey'', and the music video is a tribute to the movie ''A Clockwork Orange'', with the band dressed up in costumes similar to Alex and his droogs. Both films were directed by Stanley Kubrick. Music video A music video for the song was directed by Jonathan Glazer. ''Blur 21'' is a CD, DVD and vinyl box set encompassing the vast majority of music by Blur. It was released on 30 July 2012, commemorating the 21st anniversary of the release of ''Leisure'', the band's first album. The release took place before the band's performance at Hyde Park as part of the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. One version of the box-set consists of eighteen CDs, three DVDs, one vinyl 7" record (of the early Seymour track "Superman") and a hardcover book acting as a complete biography of the band. The CDs contain all seven Blur albums, with the first five remastered, with each album receiving a new second disc of B-side material; as well as four 'rarities' discs containing mostly previously unreleased material. Artrocker is a UK-based collective involved in music promotion and publishing. It was started by Paul Cox and Tom Fawcett who had been co-promoters of a London night called The Sausage Machine. Having started life with an online newsletter and event promotion in 2001, it has since expanded into various endeavours including a monthly magazine, various websites, a record label, video production, and a weekly radio show. Artrocker has a reputation for talent-spotting and supporting bands before they become well known. Brit Awards 2012 was held on 21 February 2012. This was the 32nd edition of the British Phonographic Industry's annual Brit Awards. The awards ceremony was held at The O2 Arena in London for the second time. The ceremony was presented by James Corden. It was recorded in Hong Kong and London, and released by Parlophone on 27 April 2015 and Warner Bros. Records on 28 April 2015. ''Think Tank'' is the seventh studio album by the English rock band Blur, released on 5 May 2003. Continuing the jam-based studio constructions of the group's previous album, '' 13'' (1999), the album expanded on the use of sampled rhythm loops and brooding, heavy electronic sounds. There are also heavy influences from dance music, hip hop, dub, jazz, and African music, an indication of songwriter Damon Albarn's expanding musical interests. Recording sessions started in November 2001, taking place in London, Morocco and Devon, and finished a year later. The album's primary producer was Ben Hillier with additional production by Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), and William Orbit.
