Holy Roman Empire
The Holy Roman Empire was a Polity, political entity in Western Europe, Western, Central Europe, Central, and Southern Europe that developed during the Early Middle Ages and continued until its Dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, dissolution in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars. From the accession of Otto I in 962 until the twelfth century, the Empire was the most powerful monarchy in Europe. Andrew Holt characterizes it as "perhaps the most powerful European state of the Middle Ages". The functioning of government depended on the harmonic cooperation (dubbed ''consensual rulership'' by Bernd Schneidmüller) between monarch and vassals but this harmony was disturbed during the Salian Dynasty, Salian period. The empire reached the apex of territorial expansion and power under the House of Hohenstaufen in the mid-thirteenth century, but overextending led to partial collapse. François Van Der Delft
François van der Delft (c. 1500 – 21 June 1550), was Imperial ambassador to the court of Henry VIII of England from 1545 to 1547 and ambassador to the court of Edward VI of England from 1547 to 1550. Van der Delft came to England in 1545 to represent Charles V. In the summer of 1545, after Chapuys' departure, he was officially introduced to King Henry aboard the Henry Grace à Dieu shortly before the Battle of the Solent. Under Edward VI, in 1550, as the Privy Council put pressure on Princess Mary to restrain the usage of her mass, van der Delft suggested to her to flee England. Simon Renard
Simon Renard, Sieur of Bermont and Lieutenant of Aumont or Amont, (1513- 8 August 1573) was a Burgundian diplomat who served as an advisor to Emperor Charles V and his son Philip II of Spain, who were also counts of Burgundy. Renard had the court appointment of Master of Requests in Ordinary of the Emperor's household. He was ambassador of Spain in France and England. As ambassador to England he acquired an extraordinary degree of influence over Mary I of England, and until her marriage to Philip, which he promoted, he was thought by many to be controlling the English Government. Jean Scheyfve
Jean or Jehan Scheyfve, (c.1515-13 July 1581), Lord of Sint-Agatha-Rode, was Chancellor of Brabant, head of the civilian administration of the Duchy of Brabant, from 1557 to 1579. He had earlier served as the ambassador of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, to the English court (May 1550 to October 1553). Early life Jean was the son of Jean Scheyfve and Jeanne de Berchem. Beltrán de la Cueva y Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alburquerque, (in full, es, Don (honorific), Don Beltrán de la Cueva y Álvarez de Toledo, tercer duque de Alburquerque, tercer conde de Ledesma, tercer conde de Huelma, señor de los estados de Cuéllar, la Codesera, Mombeltrán y Pedro Bernardo), (c. 1478 - 11 February 1560) was a Spanish nobleman and military leader. He was born in Cuéllar, the son of Don Francisco Fernández de la Cueva, 2nd Duke of Alburquerque and of Francisca de Toledo, daughter of García Álvarez de Toledo, 1st Duke of Alba. Beltrán de la Cueva was appointed captain general of the Spanish Army, and commander-in-chief of the English Army in France (under queen Mary I of England).
