Tirana
Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. Due to its location at the Plain of Tirana and the close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, the city is particularly influenced by a Mediterranean seasonal climate. It is among the wettest and sunniest cities in Europe, with 2,544 hours of sun per year. Aviezer "Avi" Pazner (born 9 June 1937) is a retired Israeli diplomat and former World Chairman of Keren Hayesod - United Israel Appeal. Biography Avi Pazner was born in the Free City of Danzig (now Gdańsk). His father was Chaim Pazner, the Jewish Agency representative in Geneva, Switzerland during World War II, who rescued Jews from Nazi-occupied Europe and Regina (Gini) née Erlanger from Lucerne, Switzerland. He immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of 16. Pazner attended Gymnasia Rehavia high school in Jerusalem. In the Israel Defense Forces, he served in the Armored Corps as a combat soldier. Pazner graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a degree in political science and economics. Amira Arnon (born in Haifa, Israel) is an Israeli diplomat who has been Ambassador to multiple countries including Albania (2007-2009) and Singapore from 2009 until 2013. She was also the non-resident Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former Yugoslavia, stationed in Jerusalem from 2007 until 2009. Early life and education Arnon graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with an undergraduate degree in international relations (1972) before attending their Young Diplomats Special Programme on Middle Eastern Affairs 1989-1990.
