Liske Lategan
Liske Lategan (born 25 November 1998) is a South African rugby sevens player. Career Lategan made her debut for the South African sevens team in 2019. She competed for South Africa at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She scored a hat-trick in their seventh-place victory over Sri Lanka. Lategan featured for the sevens side at the 2023 Africa Women's Sevens Olympic Qualifier in Tunisia. She scored a try against Zimbabwe in their opening match. She was a member of the South African side that competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. South Africa National Rugby Union Team
The South Africa national rugby union team, commonly known as the Springboks (colloquially the Boks, Bokke or Amabokoboko), is the country's national team governed by the South African Rugby Union. The Springboks play in green and gold jerseys, with white shorts and their emblem is a native antelope, the Springbok, which is the national animal of South Africa. The 1995 Rugby World Cup was the third Rugby World Cup. It was hosted and won by South Africa, and was the first Rugby World Cup in which every match was held in one country. The World Cup was the first major sporting event to take place in South Africa following the end of apartheid. It was also the first World Cup in which South Africa was allowed to compete; the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB, now World Rugby) had only readmitted South Africa to international rugby in 1992, following negotiations to end apartheid. The World Cup was also the last major event of rugby union's amateur era; two months after the tournament, the IRFB opened the sport to professionalism. Pieter Hendriks
Pieter Hendriks (born 13 April 1970), is a former South African rugby union player who played for the South Africa national rugby union team between 1992 and 1996. Playing career Hendriks represented the South Eastern Transvaal Schools team at the annual Craven Week tournament in 1988 and was also selected for the SA Schools team. He made his senior provincial debut for Transvaal in 1990 and was a member of the Transvaal team that won the Currie Cup in 1993 and 1994. Hendriks scored 38 Currie Cup tries and 89 tries in all matches for Transvaal. South Africa Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The South Africa women's national rugby sevens team competes at events within the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series and was a core team for 2014–15 season. They first played in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, and also competed in the IRB Women's Sevens Challenge Cup in the 2011–12 season. South Africa did not qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics despite winning the 2015 Women's Africa Cup Sevens because the South African Olympic Committee (SASCOC) rules states that teams cannot qualify by winning continental titles.
