Liseleje
Liseleje is a former fishing village and popular tourist resort in Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 kilometres northwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village is surrounded by extensive areas of summerhouses. It has merged with neighbouring Asserbo, forming an urban area with a combined population of 2,507 (1 January 2022). Geography Liseleje is located 7 km north of Frederiksværk, 70 km from Copenhagen, 50 km from Roskilde, 44 km from Helsingør and 27 km from Hillerød. Liseleje Plantage, a wooded area planted in the late 19th century to combat drifting sand, is located to the east of the town. It is separated from Asserbo Plantage by Melby Overdrev, an open area which was protected in 1930. The three area adjoin Tisvilde Hegn, forming one of the largest forests in Denmark. Ane Riel
Ane Riel (born 25 September 1971) is a Danish novelist. Career Riel is the author of four novels. Her fourth novel "Clockwork" is forthcoming by Lindhardt og Ringhof in June 2021. Her first three novels earned her seven awards and twelve nominations both in Denmark and abroad. * She debuted as a novelist with ''The Butcher of Liseleje'' (2013) that won a debut award in Denmark and was sold to Germany and Norway. * Her popular literary breakthrough came with her second novel ''Resin'' (2015). Melby, Halsnæs Municipality
Melby is a village located on the Halsnæs peninsula, midway between Frederiksværk and Hundested, Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It most notable landmarks are its church, its windmill and a former military camp. Melby Station is served by the Hundested Line between Hillerød and Hundested. As of 1 January 2022, the population was 764. The name Melby is also associated with Melbylejren, a former military installation which is now located in Liseleje-Asserbo, as well as Melby Overdrev, an area of protected heatherlands separating Liseleje and Asserbo Plantations to the east of Liseleje. North Zealand, also North Sealand ( da, Nordsjælland), refers to the northern part of the Danish island of Zealand which is not clearly defined but generally covers the area north of Copenhagen. The Danish tourist authorities have recently introduced the term Danish Riviera to cover the area in view of its increasing importance for tourism. The area has three royal castles and offers resorts with beaches, as well as lakes and forests. In addition to Kronborg Castle, three of the North Zealand forest areas used for royal par force hunting are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Karl Aage Præst
Karl Aage Præst, also spelled Carl Aage Præst, (26 February 1922 – 19 November 2011) was a Danish football player. Playing in the left winger position, Præst won two Serie A championships with Italian club Juventus FC. He played 24 games and scored 17 goals for the Danish national team from 1945 to 1949, and won a bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He is a Danish Football Hall of Fame inductee. Halsnæs Municipality
Halsnæs Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region"). The municipality covers a total area (land and water) of 122.15 km² (2013), according to Municipal Key Figures (De Kommunale Nøgletal (www.noegletal.dk)), and has a total population of 31,420 (1 January 2021). The municipality also includes the island Hesselø. Up to 20 km2 of the total area is water, as part of the largest lake in Denmark, Arresø, lies within the municipality. Its name comes from ''Halsnæs'', the peninsula that forms the western part of the municipality. Jørgen Leschly Sørensen (24 September 1922 – 21 February 1999) was a Danish footballer who played as a forward. He started as an amateur player in Danish football, and won the 1945 Danish championship with B.93. He played 14 games and scored eight goals for the Denmark national football team, and won a bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics. After the Olympics, Sørensen played professionally in Italian football for Atalanta B.C. and A.C. Milan, winning the 1955 Serie A championship with Milan. Aage Langeland-Mathiesen
Aage Langeland-Mathiesen (22 May 1868 – 19 June 1933) was a Danish architect. He was active both in building design and restoration, and was associated with the National Museum for many years. His building designs are strongly influenced by his interest in historic architecture. He collaborated with his more well-known colleague Ulrik Plesner on many projects. Early life and education Mathiesen was born in Aarhus but the family moved to Copenhagen in 1872 where his father Rasmus Langeland Mathiesen became building inspector of the Danish capital. Aage Langeland-Mathiesen completed a carpenter's apprenticeship and studied at Copenhagen Technical College before enrolling at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1884. He became an executing architect at Hermann Baagøe Storck prior to his graduation in January 1895. Frederiksværk
Frederiksværk is a town with a population of 12,718 (1 January 2022) in Halsnæs Municipality on Zealand in Capital Region of Denmark, Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. History A French cannon founder, Peyrembert, received permission to build a cannon factory here. Having gotten into difficulties, King Frederick V of Denmark, Frederik V requested that his chancellery advisor, Johan Frederik Classen, take over the operation of the foundry. Under Classen's management the town blossomed, and there came a gunpowder mill, as well as light industry and handicrafts to the town. This resulted in Classen's being appointed major general. On 25 August 1756 the king issued a document permitting Classen to call the town "Friederichswerk". Classen was allowed to build a new foundry, Gjethuset, and it was constructed between 1761 and 1767. It has been used as a cannon foundry until 1928, and has been used for heavy industry until 1976. Johan Frederik Classen
Johan Frederik Classen, frequently also J. F. Classen, (11 February 1725 – 24 March 1792) was a Danish-Norwegian industrialist, major general, landowner and founder of Det Classenske Fideicommis. He served as chancellery adviser to King Frederik V. Classen built the manor house Arresødal in 1773, he renovated the Neoclassical manor house Corselitze in 1777, and built the General's Summerhouse by the Corselitze Forest. Early years Classen was born in Oslo (then called Christiania), where his father (from Sønderborg on the Danish island of Als), was an organist.
