Lise Stauri
Lise Karine Stauri, née Høie (6 January 1882 – 14 February 1949) was a Norwegian folk high school teacher. She was born in Stavanger as a daughter of Unitarian priest and school manager Rasmus Høie (1833–1909) and Lise Tjøstheim (1846–1891); through her sister she was a sister-in-law of Oddmund Vik. Her father managed Stavanger Seminary, but as this was disestablished in 1901 she moved to attend Seljord Folk High School. Here she met one of the teachers, Rasmus Stauri (1867–1932), whom she married in August 1907. Before that, they worked together at the new Gudbrandsdal Folk High School from 1902. Lise also studied gymnastics in Denmark, finally graduated from Elverum Teachers' Seminary in 1904, worked as a teacher in Vats, Buøy and Stavanger and finished additional teacher courses in Kristiania in 1907. Kvam, Oppland
Kvam is a village in Nord-Fron Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in the Gudbrandsdalen valley, along the river Gudbrandsdalslågen, about northwest of the town of Vinstra. The European route E6 highway and the Dovrebanen railway line both run through the village. The railroad stops at the Kvam Station. King's Medal Of Merit
The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society. The medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements. The medal is suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Royal Standard of Norway. The medal in gold is ranked eighth in the ranking of Norwegian orders and medals. Norwegian Women And Family Association
Hjemmenes Vel (Welfare in the Home), later Norges Husmorforbund (Norwegian Housewives' Association), was Norway's first association for housewives. Founded in Oslo (then Christiania) by Dorothea Christensen in 1898, it was also the first organization for housewives in Europe. The association functioned until the late.1970s. In 1897, Christensen had published an article in ''Husmoderen'' (The Housewife) titled "Vi husmødre slutter os sammen" (We housewives should stick together) which paved the way for the establishment of Hjemmenes Vel on 10 March 1898. Based on the success of the Oslo organization, local Hjemmenes Vel branches were established throughout the country. As a result, in 1915 Hjemmenes Vels Landsforbund or national headquarters was founded by Marie Michelet who chaired it until 1934. By 1924, there were some 50 local organizations in Norway. The Norwegian Women's Public Health Association (''Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforening'') or NKS is the largest women's organisation and one of the leading humanitarian organisations of Norway. It is open to women and men and was founded on the initiative of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights in 1896. The organization's main areas of focus are women's health and living conditions. It is involved in humanitarian work, such as running hospitals and nursing homes. Noregs Ungdomslag (NU, literally "Norway's youth society") is a Norwegian cultural society formed in 1896. It has around 17,000 members and 450 local chapters. Gudbrandsdalen (; en, Gudbrand Valley) is a valley and Districts of Norway, traditional district in the Norway, Norwegian county of Innlandet (formerly Oppland).
