Lipa, Miren-Kostanjevica
Lipa () is a village in the Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica in the Littoral region of Slovenia. History During the First World War, Lipa was directly to the rear of the Austro-Hungarian front line. A military hospital was set up in the village, and many of the village's houses were destroyed during the war. There are two Austro-Hungarian military cemeteries directly northeast of Lipa; their central monuments are preserved, but the individual grave markers no longer remain. The Slovene Littoral ( sl, Primorska, ; it, Litorale; german: Küstenland) is one of the five traditional regions of Slovenia. The Gorizia Statistical Region ( sl, Goriška statistična regija) is a statistical region in western Slovenia, along the border with Italy. It is named after the Italian town of Gorizia (the feminine adjective ''goriška'' comes from the Slovenian name for Gorizia: ''Gorica''). The Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica (; sl, Občina Miren - Kostanjevica, it, Comune di Merna Castagnevizza) is a municipality in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy.
