Linwood Boulevard
Linwood Boulevard, Linwood, or 33rd Street is a major west/east main street that runs in Kansas City, Missouri from Broadway Boulevard to Van Brunt Boulevard. Linwood is one of the few named east-west streets in the Kansas City grid south of the Missouri River. It is one of the original boulevards designated by George Kessler's City Beautiful design in the late 19th century for Kansas City. It derives its name from the Linden trees. Overview Two large historic districts on either side of the boulevard are on National Register of Historic Places—the Old Hyde Park Historic District between Central and Baltimore on the south side and the Santa Fe Place Historic District (on a section of the Santa Fe Trail) on the north between Indiana and Prospect. The Paseo (Kansas City)
The Paseo (also known as Paseo Boulevard, or Paseo) is a major north–south parkway in Kansas City, Missouri. As the city's first major boulevard, it runs approximately (85 blocks) through the center of the city: from Cliff Drive and Lexington Avenue on the bluffs above the Missouri River in the Pendleton Heights historic neighborhood, to 85th Street and Woodland Avenue. The parkway holds of boulevard parkland dotted with several Beaux-Arts-style decorative structures and architectural details maintained by the city's Parks and Recreation department. The name was suggested by the first president of the Parks Board, August R. Meyer (1851–1905), based on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City. In 2019, the city council renamed the street to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and was immediately petitioned to subject the change to a citywide vote, in a strong controversy. Southwest Boulevard (simply known as "The Boulevard" locally) is an arterial street in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS. 39th Street is a major west/east main street that runs in Kansas City, Missouri from State Line Road to Topping Avenue. It was originally named Rosedale Avenue as it led to the town of Rosedale. It connects Westport and Kansas City, Kansas. The University of Kansas Hospital is at the starting point and the ending point is in the Leeds Industrial District. Central High School (formerly Central Academy of Excellence) is a high school located at 3221 Indiana Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City Public Schools. Central was established in 1884 in order to help educate the growing population of Kansas City. The school colors are blue and white and the school's athletic teams are referred to as the "Eagles". Central has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students annually. Edward Buehler Delk
Edward Buehler Delk (1885–1956) was a prominent architect who designed many landmark buildings in the Midwest and Southwest regions of the United States. Delk was born on September 22, 1885, in Schoharie, New York. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1907. After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War I where he studied at the University of London after the war. Among his most famous works were Spanish Colonial Revival Style architecture buildings in the 1920s for Kansas City developer J.C. Nichols and Oklahoma oilman Waite Phillips. On September 1, 1956, Edward B. Delk died unexpectedly at sea aboard the S. S. ''Excambion'' while returning with his wife Jane from a trip to Europe. He was buried in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Gillham Road is a major north/south main street that runs in Kansas City, Missouri from the intersection of 22nd Street at Oak Street to Harrison Road between 45th and 46th Streets. Main Street (Kansas City)
Main Street or Main is a major north/south main street that runs in Kansas City, Missouri. At its northern terminus, it begins at the Missouri River as a dead end street, with heavier traffic supported as a main street south of 6th Street south to Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Brookside Boulevard. The street becomes a neighborhood street south of the Plaza with interrupted service continuing to 97th Street. Main Street serves as the main administrative north/south dividing line in the city and standardizes addresses for Kansas City, Missouri, and several surrounding suburbs.
