LinkedIn Pulse
LinkedIn Pulse was a news aggregation app originally developed for Android, iOS and HTML5 browsers, originally released in 2010. The app, in its original incarnation, was deprecated in 2015 and integrated into LinkedIn. History Pulse was originally released in May 2010 for the Apple iPad. The app was created by Ankit Gupta and Akshay Kothari (two Stanford University graduate students) as part of a course at the Institute of Design. The company they formed, Alphonso Labs, was one of the first to use Stanford's business incubator SSE Labs. Pulse received positive reviews for its easy to use interface. On 8 June 2010, the app was temporarily removed from the App Store hours after it was mentioned by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs at WWDC 2010, because ''The New York Times'' complained to Apple that the app pulled content from the nytimes.com and boston.com RSS feeds in violation of the terms of use prohibiting commercial redistribution. iOS (formerly iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc. exclusively for its hardware. Flipboard is a news aggregator and social network aggregation company based in Palo Alto, California, with offices in New York, Vancouver, and Bejiing. Its software, also known as Flipboard, was first released in July 2010. It aggregates content from social media, news feeds, photo sharing sites, and other websites, presents it in magazine format, and allows users to "flip" through the articles, images, and videos being shared. Readers can also save stories into Flipboard magazines. As of March 2016 the company claims there have been 28 million magazines created by users on Flipboard. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others. Feedly was first released by DevHD in 2008. History DevHD’s first project, Streets, which aggregates updates from a variety of online sources is the basis of Feedly. Originally called ''Feeddo'', Feedly was first released as a web extension before moving onto mobile platforms.
