Andreas Linger
Andreas Linger (born 31 May 1981, in Hall in Tirol) is an Austrian retired luger who has competed internationally since 2000. He and his younger brother Wolfgang began luging at a very young age, and did their first doubles run when they were 14. Linger has won five medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with three golds (Men's doubles: 2003, 2011 and 2012) and two bronzes (Mixed team: 2003 and men's doubles: 2013). He also earned seven medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with a gold (Men's doubles: 2010), three silvers (Men's doubles: 2008, Mixed team: 2008, 2010), and three bronzes (Men's doubles: 2004 and 2014, Mixed team: 2004). The Lingers were overall Luge World Cup men's doubles champions in 2011-12 and scored 15 World Cup race victories. Carl Linger
Carl Linger (15 March 1810 – 16 February 1862) was a German Australian composer in South Australia who in 1859 wrote the melody for the patriotic "Song of Australia". German-born intellectual Carl Linger, who had studied at the Institute of Music in Berlin, came to South Australia in 1849 on the ''Princess Luise''. He settled in Gawler, grew potatoes, went broke and settled in Adelaide, where he was far more successful as a musician. He was the founder and conductor of the Adelaide Liedertafel in 1858 and composer of church music, including the "Ninety-third Psalm", "Gloria", "O Lord who is as Thee" and "Vater unser". For several years he played the harmonium at St Frances Xavier Cathedral. Performances were given at his funeral by the Adelaide Liedertafel and Brunswick Band, of which he was also a founder and conductor. His remains were buried at the West Terrace Cemetery. Christian Nicolaus Von Linger
Christian Nicolaus von Linger (5 April 1669 in Berlin, died 17 April 1755) was a Prussian general. He was chief of the Prussian artillery from 1716. In his 67-year military career, he served three monarchs in six wars, and founded the Prussian artillery arm of the military. He was appointed the first General of the Artillery by King Frederick II in 1744. James Linger (born 6 September 1990, in Box Hill, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian former professional baseball player. He was signed to the Atlanta Braves organisation and plays second base for the GCL Braves. Career Linger played Baseball for Norths in the Far North Coast Baseball Association competition, and also for the Queensland Rams in the 2008 Claxton Shield, batting at .394. He was then scouted by Phil Dale and signed with the Braves for $120,000 over five years. Ortwin Linger
Ortwin Linger (17 September 1967 – 10 June 1989) was a Dutch footballer. During his career he played for HFC Haarlem. He was a passenger on Surinam Airways Flight PY764 when it crashed in Paramaribo on 7 June 1989. He died three days later, at 21 years of age, due to his injuries suffered in the crash. He went to the same high school as Steve van Dorpel, who also died in the crash. Linger was born in Paramaribo, but grew up in Amsterdam, in the Bijlmer area. He started his football career at amateur side FC Abcoude and later at JOS Watergraafsmeer where he would play until he was 16 years old. Paul Linger (20 December 1974 – 1 October 2021) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League as a midfielder for Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient and Brighton & Hove Albion.
