Line 5 (Madrid Metro)
Line 5 is a rapid transit line in the Madrid Metro system since 5 June 1968. It is the fourth most used line of the Madrid system, transporting 64 million passengers a year. It is 27 kilometers long. Line 5 also contains the only elevated ground platform in the Madrid Metro, at station. Aluche is also the only station where the metro is above the Cercanías commuter train, which generally runs above ground. History Line 5 was opened on 5 June 1968 and originally ran between and , with the Carabanchel station also running with what was then called Line S (for ''Suburbano''). Móstoles
Móstoles () is a municipality of Spain located in the Community of Madrid. With over 200,000 inhabitants, it is the region's second most populated municipality after Madrid. Móstoles was a small town for a long time, but expanded rapidly in the second half of the 20th century. The city also hosts the main campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University. Valdebebas () is an urban development under construction in the city of Madrid, Spain near Barajas Airport. It will host around 12,500 apartments and houses for a population of 40,000 inhabitants. Alcorcón () is a city and municipality of Spain located in the Community of Madrid. as of 2020, it had a population of 172,384. Line 2 of the Madrid Metro is a rapid transit line in Madrid. It first opened on 11 June 1924 and originally ran between and stations. History Line 2 was extended from Sol to on 27 December 1925, and then further to on 1 September 1929. In 1932, a branch from Goya to was added, though this branch was transferred to Line 4 in 1958. In 1964 the line was extended from Ventas to , though this too was transferred, to Line 5 in 1970.
