CercanÃas Madrid
CercanÃas Madrid is the commuter rail service that serves Madrid, the capital of Spain, and its metropolitan area. It is operated by CercanÃas Renfe, the commuter rail division of Renfe, the former monopoly of rail services in Spain. Its total length is 370 km. History Until 1989 The first railroad line departing from Madrid (the second in Spain and the third in the Iberian Peninsula) was built in 1851 between Madrid and Aranjuez. CercanÃas Renfe
The commuter rail systems of Spain's major metropolitan areas are called ''CercanÃas'' () in most of Spain, ''Rodalia'' () in the Valencian Community, ''Aldiriak'' () in the Basque Country and ''Rodalies'' () in Catalonia. There are twelve ''CercanÃas'' systems in and around the cities of Asturias, Bilbao, Cádiz, Catalonia, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia/Alicante, Santander, San Sebastián, Seville, Valencia and Zaragoza. They are linked to Metro systems in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia. Nuevos Ministerios Station
Nuevos Ministerios is a major multimodal rail station on the Madrid Metro and the CercanÃas Madrid commuter rail network. It is located beneath the Nuevos Ministerios (New Ministries) government complex and the AZCA financial centre at the junction of the Paseo de la Castellana and JoaquÃn Costa and Raimundo Fernández Villaverde streets in Madrid, Spain. Madrid ChamartÃn Railway Station
The Estación de Madrid-ChamartÃn Clara Campoamor or Madrid ChamartÃn is the second major railway station in Madrid, Spain. Located on the northern side of the city, it was built between 1970 and 1975, but more work was carried on into the early 1980s. It then superseded Atocha station, which is located just south of the city centre. It hosts the railway networks connecting Madrid and north-western Spain, the AVE (high-speed line) from Madrid to Segovia, Valladolid and León and many CercanÃas lines (commuter rail), as well as the international line to Lisbon. Railway Museum (Madrid)
The Museo del Ferrocarril (Railway Museum) in Madrid, Spain, is one of the largest historic railroad collections in Europe. It is housed in a redundant railway station called Madrid-Delicias in the '' barrio'' of Delicias. The location is near the centre of Madrid.
