Line 2 (Naples Metro)
Line 2 (Italian: ''Linea 2'') is a rapid transit service operated by Trenitalia in the city of Naples, Italy. It connects 12 stations. Line 2 operates on the urban railway, which crosses the city of Naples from west to east. All regional trains, differently from metropolitan trains, are received by Campi Flegrei station in different platforms. Line 2 also has some minor regional extensions. These are the Naples-Caserta and Naples-Salerno (all these services use the Passante rapid transit railway, of which the latter two start from Campi Flegrei station). History The construction of the line, part of the ″direttissima″ Rome–Naples, was begun in 1911 and after a suspension during World War I, it was completed in 1925 between ''Pozzuoli'' and ''Piazza Garibaldi'', electrified with third rail. Napoli Piazza Garibaldi Railway Station
Napoli Centrale (''Naples Central Station'') is the main railway station in the city of Naples and in southern Italy and the sixth largest station in Italy in terms of passenger flow with an annual ridership of 50 million. It is located next to Piazza Garibaldi to the east of the old city. It is the primary rail terminus and station for Naples, and serves Trenitalia national railways and EAV. Metronapoli
Metronapoli SpA was an Italian company responsible for the provision of public transport in the city of Naples, and its primary function was the operation and maintenance of the Naples Metro system. It was founded on 26 July 2000 and became operational on 1 February 2001. Metronapoli was a fully state-controlled joint-stock corporation. Its functions were absorbed by Azienda Napoletana Mobilità s.p.a. (ANM) on 1 November 2013. Metronapoli was a subsidiary company controlled by two organisations, initially three. Cumana Railway
The Cumana railway ( it, Ferrovia Cumana, sometimes also known as Line 7) is a commuter railway in Campania, southern Italy, connecting Naples by two separate routes with Torregaveta, near Cuma in the town of Bacoli (about 15 km west of Naples). It passes through Pozzuoli and the volcanic Campi Flegrei area. The line was built and run by the ''Società per le Ferrovie Napoletane'' (the Neapolitan Railway Company), founded in 1883, and is now operated by the Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) company. Napoli Campi Flegrei Railway Station
Napoli Campi Flegrei railway station ( it, Stazione di Napoli Campi Flegrei) serves the city and ''comune'' of Naples, in the region of Campania, southern Italy. Opened in 1925, it is the second most important railway station in Naples, after Napoli Centrale. It also forms part of the Villa Literno–Napoli Gianturco railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company. Cavalleggeri Aosta Railway Station
Cavalleggeri were an inferior category of cavalry during the classic period of feudal cavalry. This included knife-armed cavalry, lancers' pages and mounted crossbowmen. Later, ''cavalleggeri'' became a subsidiary arm of the gendarmerie. In 1498, Louis XII of France gave this name (''chevau-léger'') to his mounted companies, forming a sort of mounted infantry, and this special body continued until 1570. In this era Henry IV of France formed a company of ''chevau-légers'', well-educated and called ordinance since it was used as the king's guard. Other Italian states and communal militias created ''cavalleggeri'' units. In the Florentine Republic it was established that 500 mounted crossbowmen would be regularly enlisted, with the option of arming 10% of them with lances.
