The First Line ( kk, Бірінші бағыт, ''Birinshi baǵyt''; ) is the first line opened of the Almaty Metro in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The first stretch with seven stations, between Raiymbek batyr and Alatau, and with a train yard at the Raiymbek batyr, was opened on 1 December 2011. The first extension with two stations, between Alatau and Moskva, was opened on 18 April 2015. The second extension with two stations, between Moskva and Bauyrzhan Momyshuly Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, also spelled Baurjan Momish-UliWhile publications of the Kazakh government use the first version, all the English translations of Alexander Bek's books use the second. Mu'izz id-Din Mūhammed Rahim-Bek Bahadur (, , romanized: ''Muizziddin Mūhammed Rahim-Bek Bahadür''),also spelled as Raiymbek Batyr, was a famous Kazakh warrior from the 18th century. The term '' Bahadur'' is an honorific term meaning "hero" in the Kazakh language, meaning that Rahim-Bek Bahadur's given name was simply Muizziddin Muhammed Rahim-Bek. He actively resisted the Dzungar invasion of Kazakh territories and played a major role in maintaining Kazakh freedom and independence. Rahim-Bek saw the Kazakh Khanate as a hub of Muslim culture and felt that it was necessary to maintain its sovereignty at all costs.
