Lindenhof (Rapperswil)
Lindenhof in Rapperswil is a moraine hill and a public square being the historic center of Rapperswil, Switzerland. Geography Lindenhof hill (its eastern part is called ''Herrenberg'') dominates the old city of Rapperswil, a locality of the municipality of Rapperswil-Jona in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Being a moraine remain of the last Glacial period in Switzerland, the area was created as a rocky conglomerate about 20,000 years ago. Its northwestern slope towards the bay of Kempraten on Zürichsee lakeshore is named ''Schlosshalde'', and ''Schlosshügel'', the opposite side of the longish hill, is dominated by the vineyard of that name and Rapperswil's 'official' rose garden towards the harbour area respectively ''Seedamm'' and ''Obersee'' lakeshore. Moraine
A moraine is any accumulation of unconsolidated debris (regolith and rock), sometimes referred to as glacial till, that occurs in both currently and formerly glaciated regions, and that has been previously carried along by a glacier or ice sheet. It may consist of partly rounded particles ranging in size from boulders (in which case it is often referred to as boulder clay) down to gravel and sand, in a groundmass of finely-divided clayey material sometimes called glacial flour. Lateral moraines are those formed at the side of the ice flow, and terminal moraines were formed at the foot, marking the maximum advance of the glacier. Pfannenstiel (el. ) is a wooded mountain respectively a region overlooking the Lake Zürich and Zürcher Oberland in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. Geography Pfannenstiel (Swiss German: ''Pfannenstil'' meaning '' pan handle'') is commonly used for the mountain and the region of a longish mountain area. It is located in the district of Meilen, some in the southeast of the city of Zürich, bordered by Greifensee and Zürcher Oberland in the northeast, Lake Zürich in the southwest and the area around the municipality of Hombrechtikon in the east. Uetliberg
__NOTOC__ The Uetliberg (also known as Üetliberg) is a mountain in the Swiss plateau, part of the Albis chain, rising to . The mountain offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Zürich (to the northeast of its summit) and the Lake of Zurich (to the east), and lies on the boundary between the city of Zürich and the municipalities of Stallikon and Uitikon. The summit, known as Uto Kulm, is in Stallikon. At the summit, there is the Hotel Uto Kulm, together with two towers. One of these is a look-out tower (access costs , rebuilt 1990), whilst the other is the Uetliberg TV-tower (186 m, rebuilt 1990). The summit is easily accessible by train from Zürich. Felsenegg
Felsenegg (el. ) is a vantage point in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. Geography Felsenegg is located some to the southwest of the city of Zürich on the Albis chain, between the municipalities of Stallikon and Adliswil. The hilltop station of Luftseilbahn Adliswil-Felsenegg (LAF for short or commonly called ''Felseneggbahn'') aerial tramway is situated on Felsenegg. The Albis area is one of the most important recreation areas of greater Zürich. Albis
The Albis is a chain of hills in the Canton of Zürich, Switzerland, stretching for some 19 km from Sihlbrugg in the south to Waldegg near Zürich in the north. The chain forms, among others, the border between the Affoltern and Horgen districts. The best known point is Uetliberg at 870 m, overlooking the city of Zürich. Zimmerberg (el. ) is a mountain and a region located in the district of Horgen in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. Its name bases on the Old High German word ''zimbar'' in the meaning of lumber.
