Linda Dahle
Linda Dahle (born 8 November 1991) is a German 4.5 point national wheelchair basketball player who plays for Hannover United, and for the German national team. She won a bronze medal at the U25 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in August 2013, where she was the team's top scorer with 42 points. She made her senior national team debut in June 2014, winning silver at the 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto. Biography Linda Dahle was born in Düsseldorf on 8 November 1991. When she was 16, she was forced to give up playing basketball due to severe cartilage damage in her left foot. She then took up wheelchair basketball, with a classification of 4.5 point, the lowest level of disability. She is studying social work degree at the University of Nijmegen. 4 Point Player
4-point player is a disability sport classification for wheelchair basketball. Players in this class have normal trunk function but have a reduced level of functioning in one or both of their lower limbs. They may have difficulty with sideways movements. People in this class include Amputee sports classification, ISOD classified A1, A2 and A3 (classification), A3 players. Because of their high point number, players in this class may see fewer minutes than lower-point players. Their increased functionality means they can move faster on the court then lower-point players. This means they can pick up a lot more rebounds but are also prone to having more turnovers. The class includes people with amputations. Amputees are put into this class depending on the length of their stumps and if they play using prosthetic legs. IWBF World Championship
The IWBF World Wheelchair Basketball Championship is an international wheelchair basketball competition contested by the men's and the women's national teams of the members of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation ( IWBF), the sport's global governing body. 2014 Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship
Separate men's and women's Wheelchair Basketball World Championship tournaments were held in 2014. The women's tournament was held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Canada between 20 and 28 June 2014. It was the largest women's wheelchair basketball world championship in history, with 12 national teams participating. Each team selected a squad of 12 players for the tournament. Medalists Awards Inge Huitzing (Netherlands) was named the most valuable player of the tournament. She was the tournament's top point scorer with 175 points, an average of 21.8 points per game. Janet McLachlan (Canada), Katie Harnock (Canada), Rebecca Murray (United States), Desiree Miller (United States) and Annika Zeyen (Germany) were named to the All Star Five. Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair basketball is basketball played by people with varying physical disabilities that disqualify them from playing a non-disabled sport. These include spina bifida, birth defects, cerebral palsy, paralysis due to accident, amputations (of the legs, or other parts), and many other disabilities. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) is the governing body for this sport. It is recognized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as the sole competent authority in wheelchair basketball worldwide. FIBA has recognized IWBF under Article 53 of its General Statutes. Stoke Mandeville is a village and civil parish in the Vale of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England.
