Lina von Perbandt (25 May 1836 – 1884) was a German landscape painter and member of the Düsseldorf school of painting Life and career Born into an aristocratic family in Langendorf, East Prussia, Perbandt studied art under August Behrendsen at the Kunstakademie Königsberg and Eugen Dücker at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Her parents were Ida Sophie Ernestine von der Groeben and her husband Otto Friedrich Julius von Perbandt. Her sisters were Ottilie Sophie Friederike Rosette and Ida Karoline Cäcilie Marie. East Prussia

The Harz () is a highland area in northern Germany. It has the highest elevations for that region, and its rugged terrain extends across parts of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. International Colonial And Export Exhibition
The International Colonial and Export Exhibition (Dutch: ''Internationale Koloniale en Uitvoerhandel Tentoonstelling''; French: ''Exposition Universelle Coloniale et d'Exportation Générale'') was a colonial exhibition (a type of World's Fair) held in Amsterdam from May 1 to October 1, 1883. The event drew at least a million visitors and was the first international colonial exhibition, with 28 different nations presenting their colonial trade and wealth. The event was the brainchild of Edouard Agostini, a French entrepreneur. Agostini, who had previously been involved in organizing the 1878 Exposition Universelle in Paris, presented his plans to the city of Amsterdam and King William III of the Netherlands in 1880. The Dutch government was initially hesitant, but Agostini managed to secure funding from Belgian and French investors. John Twycross
John William Twycross (15 March 1871 — 13 December 1936) was an Australian Pictorialism, Pictorialist photographer. His main body of work was produced between 1918 and 1932; and his photographs documented rural scenes, seascapes, working life, and architecture around Port Phillip Bay, and Melbourne. Family The son of John Twycross (1819-1889), a woolmerchant from Wokingham, and Charlotte Elizabeth Clutterbuck Twycross (1834-1908), née Burrell, John William Twycross was born on 15 March 1871 in St Kilda, Victoria. The Melbourne International Exhibition is the eighth World's fair officially recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and the first official World's Fair in the Southern Hemisphere. Preparations After being granted self-governance, Victoria (in 1851) and New South Wales (in 1856), saw a steady economic growth as result of the discovery and exploitation of gold reserves. This growth during the 1850s and 1860s led to rivalry between their respective capitals Melbourne and Sydney. Carl Von Perbandt
Carl von Perbandt (12 May 1832 – 6 April 1911) was German landscape painter and member of the Düsseldorf school of painting. He travelled to the United States in 1870 and spent most of his career in Northern California where he lived from 1876 until 1903. Many of his paintings were destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. However, the Oakland Museum and the Crocker Art Museum hold two of his landscapes and several more are held in private collections. Life and career Perbandt was born into an aristocratic German-speaking family in Langendorf, East Prussia. He studied painting under Andreas Achenbach and Carl Friedrich Lessing at the Düsseldorf Academy, although his determination to become an artist and his refusal to pursue a military career displeased his family. In 1859 he married Maria Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels. The couple had two sons, Conradin and Martin.
