"Lily Was Here" is an instrumental duet by English musician David A. Stewart and Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer. It was released as a single in 1989 from the soundtrack of the same name for the Dutch movie ''De Kassière'', also known by the English title ''Lily Was Here''. The song reached number one in the Netherlands and became a top-twenty hit in several other European countries, Australia, and the United States. Background David A. Stewart invited Candy Dulfer, who had not previously released any of her material, to play the saxophone on this instrumental. The single became a major hit and stayed at the number one position for five weeks in the Netherlands. ''Lily Was Here'' is the soundtrack album to the 1989 Dutch drama film of the same name (original title in Dutch: ''De Kassière'', ''The Cashier''), directed by Ben Verbong. The soundtrack was produced and largely written by David A. Stewart, one half of the British pop duo Eurythmics. The title track from the soundtrack, an instrumental duet between Stewart playing guitar and Candy Dulfer on saxophone, who also features on and co-wrote three of the other tracks, was released as a single and charted in numerous countries including reaching number one in the Netherlands for four weeks, number 6 in the UK Singles Chart and number 11 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The soundtrack also includes a new version of the Eurythmics' 1984 single "Here Comes the Rain Again", featuring Annie Lennox on vocals. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia.
